The only problem I had was the little tour pack on the scooter had to be removed because of the head lights. Otherwise it rode ok. No problems loading or unloading.Re: Eagle Cap 1160 Refrigerator ProblemI had the same camper, the refer would work if the slide was open but when closed it wasn't getting enough gas. Take the skirt off in front of the dinette. Have someone slowly close the slide and you will see it kink. I taped a piece of hard pipe to the kink area and it cleared up the problem. It about drove me nuts figuring it out. I even stopped at a RV dealer in Montana and they said the refer was defective!Re: Buying EC1160 - having weight anxiety ...I thought I'd better chime in on this post. I'm the one that posted that comment on the eagle cap forum. Yes the 03 duramax with the 1160 on it was 800 lbs over the gvw. I believe the gvw was 11,800, it weighed 12,600 on a scale in Washington State. But I'm not the type to carry a lot of extra stuff. The truck was also stock. I've since sold the 1160 and went back to a Bigfoot 3000 series non-slide which is about 1,000 lbs lighter. The eagle cap is a excellent camper, but I like the bigfoot better for several reasons. The Op's truck will handle it without any real problems, I put over 20,000 miles on my truck with a 1160 on the 2003. And yes I am still getting between 9 and 11 with the bigfoot on my 2012 3500 6.0 gas. I averaged 12 with the 03 Duramax with the 1160. I've carried both campers on the 2012 with very little difference in mileage. The 2012 does carry the extra weight better than the 03. That 1160 should weigh about 4300 lbs, and will put any pre 2011 3500 DW truck over it's rated capacity. I would just have it weighed before I bought it if you don't trust the weight as listed on the camper, but eagle cap is a very good company I'd bet it's very close.Re: Furnace help neededI would be curious as to exactly what type of smell your having. It could be a cracked heat exchanger? You would be getting a high concentration of carbon monoxide if that's the case. This shouldn't be very hard to diagnos. I am a retired HVAC business owner and have worked on several furnaces of this type. The basic design hasn't changed for several years. They are very simple. If I was the dealer I would just replace the unit and deal with the manufacturer myself, if that's what it would take to keep the customer. Good luckRe: stairs helpI recommend you take a look at the little giant (jumbo) 3or 4 step ladder. I replaced my steps with one of them several years ago. They fold easy and I hang them on a rack on my ladder. They are very stable. If you PM me I'll send you a picture. If you search the net the prices vary.Re: Suggested dealers in Michigan?I think the closest Eagle Cap or Adventure dealer is in Ontario, not far from Detroit. Check the net and you will find it. Not very many dealers in the Midwest.Happi jack serviceI recently purchased a used Bigfoot and had problems with the remote jack system. I called the happi jack service department and they said to send the remote and control box to them, and they would check it out and repair or replace the items needed. They repaired them and returned it to me and covered it under warranty? I didn't really have any warranty, because it was a used system. They were great to work with. Now it works without any problems. ThanksRe: Yellowstone trip.....You may try a eagle cap dealer, the slide motor is similar, or may be the same mfg. the specs on their earlier 1160 are close.
