We bought our first rv a year ago. Tent camped for 13 years before that. I grew up rving though with my folks from when I was about 5 until I was 18. We have kids that are 7 and 10. We are definitely on the young end from what I see in USFS and NPS service campgrounds in NW Wyoming. Once last summer at a very nice CG I'm pretty sure we were the only ones there not getting the geezer rate.:BRe: Important options in a tow vehicleBesides an am/fm radio and rear sliding window, my tv doesn't have any of the options being discussed.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here bigg-limo wrote: Wyomings wrote: Here's my rig. 1997 F250 HD, 460, 5sp 73k miles. This is on top of Dead Indian Pass in NW Wyoming taken last weekend. That may be the smallest 5er that i've ever seen. If i was still single, that would be something that i would enjoy camping in. Momma, the two kids and I have fun with it. We've even had my mom along too. There actually are smaller ones then mine.Re: 1992 Chevy C3500 DuallyI was too young to ever tow with it but my grandparents had the srw version of what you are looking at. They lived in Washington state and towed all over, Canadian Rockies, Yellowstone, down to Arizona. This is a bad pic but you can see the truck in the lower left photo and sort of in the one about it. Two different 5ers. We were usually following them with our suburban and tt, which you can sort of see in the one photo. That was back when people didn't expect to go 70 up steep mtn passes. I don't know for sure what year their pickup was, but I'm pretty sure it was the first year for that body style. Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereHere's my rig. 1997 F250 HD, 460, 5sp 73k miles. Go see if you can test drive it with your trailer.Re: campingWith that size of trailer I would have reservations for Yellowstone. In Grand Teton the Gros Ventre CG doesn't usually fill up but lot's of the sites are only big enough for a tent camper. The other campgrounds in both parks fill up frequently from Memorial day - Labor day. In May Yellowstone may not be fully open yet and for sure will be cool and could be downright wintery.Re: Camping with Extended FamilyWe don't mind having some family around, but what gets us is the lack of help doing the chores. When my mom comes we love it because she's fun to have, the kids love it and she helps. Mom gets full use of trailer and I wouldn't have it any other way. We had some other family come and they didn't sleep in the trailer, but we did offer the use of our kitchen. We ate as a big family outside. They'd cook the meal but then disappear when it was time for clean up. I wish that they had their own RV. RVing with friends who have their own RV is pretty fun.Re: Dumping at Campgrounds and Flushing Black Water Tank TooI was just in Grand Teton Park at a campground with 2 dumps. The guy ahead of me was at the first dump. Which was fine, maybe when he got there there was a guy in the 2nd one. The only problem was he had his MH parked in the middle of the road so there was no way past him. So there we sat with an unused dump that we couldn't get to until he was done. And he took his time. Lot's of flushing.
