i did 14 last year from Huntsville Alabama to Columbus and back. my truck has also had a lot of work done do it and generally doesn't downshift on any but the steepest grades and maintains speed very well
I use a 17 year old hitch without side to side pivot leave some weight on the truck befire you try pulling the pin shoukd slide easy then also make sure your tight against the trailer so no pressure no pressure is on the jaws
I have forgotten to take things of the top of the cabinets before and it didn't fall off. I'll also leave items that won't break on the counters so far nothing had ever fallen. I also tow at atleast the speed limit so not exactly taking it easy
