This pretty much sums it up. LolRe: A little confused about winterizingHi wa8yxm Your instructions are clear and easy to understand, thank you for that. My particular situation isn't so much me not understanding how the bypass system operates, it's that the valves are in the incorrect positions. If I close both red and blue then the antifreeze doesn't make it to the bi-color valve leaving me with no way to get the AF to the hot side. If you compare the pic I posted to the correct one that Old-Biscuit posted it will likely make more sense than my description.Re: A little confused about winterizing The_real_wild1 wrote: Is the handle on your bypass broken as well? Or is it just open with the handle down? If it has been open all this time you might want to close it when using your heater lol. No, it's closed like the picture that I posted shows. If it was open the handle would be parallel with the bypass line.Re: A little confused about winterizing Johno02 wrote: Looks like a pretty simple repair if you have equipment to cut and reinstall the clamps. Just like ole-biscuit said, just remove the bands and flip it, then replace bands and check for leaks under pressure. I agree that it's an easy fix and I actually have the crimps and a crimper for PEX. It's got to go to the shop for repairs soon anyway but I'll probably go ahead and take care of this so I can go ahead and winterize. Thanks so much for the tips everyone, I truly appreciate it.Re: A little confused about winterizing Rdn6405 wrote: Captain_Happy wrote: The picture that your posting of your valves is in it's normal hot water heater mode. To winterize all you've got to do is: Close the hot and cold water valves, and open the bypass valve. It's that simple. It does appear that way but when you look at it closer you will see that the bypass is between the water heater and hot:cold water valve. Compare the pic I posted to the correct one from Old Biscuit. That should be "hot and cold water valve". Not sure where the smiley face came from.Re: A little confused about winterizing Captain_Happy wrote: The picture that your posting of your valves is in it's normal hot water heater mode. Thanks for the quick reply. One more item for the warranty repair list I guess.A little confused about winterizingI hate to add to all the post about winterizing, but I'm a little boggled. Everything about winterizing seems pretty simple and straightforward but when I looked at the valve set up for my water heater bypass, it doesn't make sense to me. Are the valves installed in the wrong place or is there something I'm missing? Re: No room for second batteryThere may not be enough room for this but I thought that it could possibly be an option. You'd obviously have to widen the angle iron brackets if there is room for this setup. Thanks We bought the Salem KQBTS last October and we love it. My children are now 4 & 6 and the tub/shower combo absolutely comes in handy sometimes. Especially with my younger child. The biggest selling point for me was the space in the back for the kids. We've even had a queen size inflatable mattress back there when family goes with us. It makes a rainy couple of days much more bearable for the kids to have plenty of room to play back there. If you have any questions about this TT I'd be more than happy to try to answer them for you.
