Fit and finish is good and we really liked the floor plan - we got the bunkhouse version. Never owned a Jayco, so I can't speak to them. The number of them on the road I think, is a pretty good testimonial.Re: Great trip , 30 ft from the house dcb17b wrote: Very cool. We camp most if the time at state parks 20 minutes from the house. Camping is not where you are but who you share it with. Great way to plant the camping bug. Our favorite spot is about 4 miles from where we store our TT and about 2 miles from our house. Not only do we agree with you, our friends and family do too! After about 10 minutes of visiting with us they all comment on "I can't believe I'm only 'x' miles from home. It feels like I'm out in the country somewhere." I love the line "Camping is not where you are but who you share it with." :CRe: Backing Tips to save your marriage wthibeaux wrote: The solution is pretty simple. Let her back the truck while you give her directions. Works for us. However the rest of use really are not affected and don't care what Iowa does. I wonder how many MH's in Iowa are registered in Montana. Nah, on second thought, I really don't. As a resident of Iowa, I can tell you there aren't many Montana tagged RV's. As I sit and think about it, I don't recall ever seeing one. Not saying it isn't done (for you east coast people - in terms of land mass Iowa is 26th) I just haven't seen it. Our roads stink, and the only way they're getting fixed is by paying taxes to the State of Iowa. I live, work, and play here. I drive thousands of miles every year on our roads. I'll pay the tax, which by the way, is surprisingly low for our TT.Re: Who parks their RV at home or do you pay for storage?Like someone else posted, other people abused the rules in our town causing there to be a ordinance against parking at home. This actually works out because I have teenagers in my neighborhood who like to go through our vehicles in the wee small hours. Did I mention the vehicles were in the garage? I'd hate to think of what they'd do if we had our TT parked there. Locked up, they'd vandalize it. Unlocked and I'm sure they'd trash it. So our TT stays in a "secure" (fenced with razor wire, locking gate, and security cameras) lot about 8 miles from home, uncovered at >$50/month. Covered storage is available at a significant price increase.Re: Decorah, IowaDecorah is north from me by about 2 hours. I haven't camped up in that area. There is Pulpit Rock Campground right in Decorah - see here. If you're looking at state parks, click here. Yellow River State Forest Campground is closed. If you don't mind commuting back and forth to Decorah, Pikes Peak State Park and Backbone State Park look pretty nice.Re: Where are you going for the 4th of July? We're having a staycation too :( CG's around us are either flooded or full and we didn't think to try reserving until a week or so ago. :SRe: Looking for our first trailer - Need bunkhouse, <25ftWe bought a Crossroads Z-1 (ZT251BH) and pull it with our Silverado 1500. It's got 3 bunks, a jackknife sofa, the main bedroom, plus the dinette which converts to a bed as well. It has the handy feature of a second door that opens directly to the bathroom so the kids aren't going through the entire trailer to use the facilities. We really like it so far - we've been out 3 weekends in a row :)Re: difference between ducted & non-ducted A/COurs is ducted as well, with the option to open the vents on the main AC to "dump" all the air in the main living space or any combination therein. My brother-in-law commented on how quiet our TT was compared to his. His TT AC isn't ducted and is much louder. Our vents also rotate so we can direct the air flow.Re: Looking for suggestions on new Travel TrailerCrossroads makes 2 in their Z-1 line that have bunkhouses and slide outs. We opted for no slide out and as you can tell from my handle, we love ours.
