I've had Duracells leakI've always used Duracells, but they also leak. Supposedly Energizer has a “No Leaks Guarantee”. Lithiums also won't leak, but they are more money.
I would turn everything off, water heater, fridge, converter and try running the AC alone. If it runs, then you know you're just overloading the circuit.
