I am going to mount the controller in the pass through.Re: mounting solar controllerI had thought about the pvc electrical box, but I am concerned about heat in confined space. Thanks for the input please keep it coming.mounting solar controllerI have a small 20 watt solar panel but it is a bit to small so I am upgrading to a 100 watt panel. With my small panel i never worried about overcharging so I never used a controller. Now with the 100 watt I am thinking i need a controller. so I ordered a controller with the panel I ordered. This system will be portable. I want to move the panel to the sun. The question is where do I mount the controller. I do not wish to drill any holes in my trailer. I would like to have it very close to the batteries. I am thinking of maybe mounting it in some kind of weather proof box but am worried about heat issues. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.Re: Dry camping, battery idea?Interesting topic, I am glad to see so many recommending solar instead of "ruin your neighbors day generators" I dry camp all the time that is all i do. I have 2 batteries and a 30 watt solar panel and can go forever. I do not run tvs, radios or other accessories.. Have all led lights. Use furnace sparingly. Mostly use a Mr. Buddy heater to take of evening or morning chill. Have even camped in fairly cloudy conditions and did not run out of juice. If you buy a small solar you don't even need fancy wiring or a controller. Leave it portable so you can turn to follow the sun. That way you can park trailer in shade and still have solar in sun. I have a 25 ft cable on mine.
