This is a great combo and have had lots of fun in it since 2008 up here in Alaska Re: Your RigFinally got the rig connected. It pulls like a dream and the diesel is just something I cant put into words. Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereLooky what my wife bought me! oh ya it's a diesel! Re: Diesel vs gas...................... HamsHog wrote: How many miles will these new diesel go? GM=?, Cummins=?, Ford=? Looking into a GMC 2500HD. Regards, Hamshog The engines will go forever but how about everything else? I have Been looking at a lot of threads concerning 3/4 ton diesels and payload load and GCVW. Looking at a new chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 CC only. A gasser can pull 12,300lb and the diesel 13600lb for a 5er but wait... what’s the payload on a gasser, its 3000lbs and a diesel is 2300lbs. This is all sticker weights and some go beyond that... I think realistically it only pays to buy a diesel dually these days including all the environmental BS that is put on diesels which plummets the gas mileage of the past. Don't get me wrong, I think Diesel's are awesome but it is a question of what they are combined with.Re: Your RigThis is my new 07 Fleetwood 315BHS. Re: Diesel vs gas......................First let me say Both have thier place but when I bought in early 08 diesel fuel was at the highest ever. The Duramax was $7K more for the exact same truck and from what I was hearing the new smog equipment made fuel mpg very comparable and not as great as once protrayed. I pull a 8Klb TT so how do I justify an increased $7K dollar ivestment that gets similiar gas milage and from The towing guide can only pull 500lb more tt and 1300lbs more 5er. The gas engine also has more payload due to the diesel engine wieghing in excess of 700lbs more. Now I know diesels pull awesome because I drive them everyday at work. But for me the gas was the best I could do in my opinion for my family and my situation. My situation changes all the time so a diesel may be in my future but not now. I really dont want to cummute/own a F-450 for that 18Klb 5er I may own in 5-10 yearsRe: Diesel vs gas......................I have read a few pages and thought of a reason for gas over diesel. Sorry if this has already been discussed. That would be payload. Take my truck for example, 9200lb GVWR. With my 6L I have 3Klb of payload while a Diesel weighs 700lb so the payload would decrease by that much. This is bad news for a large 5er or someone with a tt and a heavy tongue weight and toys.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here charlan wrote: Beautiful!Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here Re: Post your tow vehicle pics hereThis is my new Cheby Old Dodge
