One of the smaller Honda portables may be all you really need.. Why limit it to diesel or propane?Re: Electric bicycles? Some really great info. Thanks for the replies. Obviously I need to do some more research..I never realized batteries for these could be so darn expensive..sheesh! How long would they last under normal use, before needing replacement? I imagine regularly charging them would be crucial? Let it sit for six months without a charge and I bet they could go downhill petty fast. Least regular batteries seem to suffer from this. This one caught my eye. I like that it is quite compact, and not a huge initial outlay. I have no idea of the quality though.. http://www.costco.ca/GIO-H2-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Foldable-Electric-Bicycle.product.100057334.htmlRe: CaulkingI've been a boater all my life, and wonder why Sikaflex is not commonly used for RV's? (or is it, perhaps using a different name?) I found this product works great for many years, without breaking down at all. I have some areas it was used on my boat 18 years ago, and it still looks like it's newly applied. No cracks, peeling, and still remains flexible. UV doesn't seem to affect it like silicone and other caulks I've used for things.Re: The good old radiatorPhil, I agree that in many, many instances, the OEM part is the best. I belong to a car forum for AC Cobra replica owners, and again and again, I see problems pop up from guys using aftermarket items. OEM may cost more, but I believe you get what you pay for. Nowadays unfortunately, you have to be aware of even dealers selling aftermarket parts. Ask them if they have both OEM and aftermarket, before buying the item. Now with that said, there are times where an aftermarket part works wonderful, and can save you serious money. Some parts are made for the OEM, but are repackaged and sold aftermarket as well..roll of the dice.. Curious flyfisherman, as to the ratio of anti-freeze you are running? Anti-freeze also works as a coolant, so if your ratio is off, that could make a difference. Some of the fellows running high performance vehicles highly recommend adding a product called "Water Wetter" for better cooling. Might be worth looking into.. If it's the original 92 rad..the cores may be plugged up, so ultimately a new rad may be the only solution.Electric bicycles? My Wife and I were discussing about ways we could get around a bit, once we stopped at a site for a few days. We both have pedal bikes we could take to ride around on, but after a trip down to California in 2012, I'm thinking the heat of summer would be brutal for pedaling any distance. I have been looking at electric bicycles, and thinking they may be the answer. You can pedal them, or simply let the motor do the work, depending on the temps. Be handy for a quick run to the grocery store, or for a little sightseeing. Curious if anyone uses them on their travels, and their pro's and con's, etc? Suggestions on makes or models would also be appreciated. As well, if there may be laws you may be aware of, restricting their use. Thinking that perhaps some states or provinces may class them as a motorcycle, thus needing a m/cycle class drivers license and liability insurance, kind of thing. Hoping to avoid that if possible.. Thanks Billvalve stem extension stabilizersI have been reading about some having issues with valves stem extensions, causing tire air loss issues. I read that the rubber stabilizers could prevent this issue. Has anyone used these Alcoa ones? What did you think of them, good, bad? http://www.alcoa.com/alcoawheels/north_america/en/info_page/accessories_hd_valve_stem_ext_stabilizer.asp Still have to figure out exactly which size ones will work on my Ford wheels. The wheel "trim cover" openings don't seem to line up exactly with the wheel openings. Not sure how to correct that issue..maybe swap the trim rings with the other side and see if they were installed wrong, or?Re: RV driving lessons ASAP Please!Know any transit bus drivers? Maybe one would do some moonlighting for you? Jump on a bus, and ask the guy if he would be willing, or knows of another driver that might be, say for $25 an hour. They would certainly know what tricks you need to learn, as they wheel them around on city streets, in traffic, all day. Just a thought..Re: First trip to AlaskaNotice in Joe's one photo, the speed limit sign saying 50? That's not 50 mph..that's 50 kph, (about 30 mph). Don't get fooled by the speed limits in Canada, eh. lolRe: 110 volt TV, vs 12 volt TV?They make TV wall brackets that tilt as well, do they not? That would be the answer to that angle view problem. Just angle it down a touch so the screen is nicely visible. It would actually be nice not to sit with my neck cranked, looking up all the time. Large windows in my RV limit several ideal mounting locations at head height when sitting. Although perhaps I could mount it somehow, to the underside of a cabinet, and swing it up horizontally when not in use? hmmm...not sure if they even make such a bracket?Re: Help me convince "FHU only" friends to try electric only CGMost of my camping over the past 25 years was with no hook ups at all. It's not much of an inconvenience, even with not having electric power, (especially for only two nights). So you don't get to use the microwave. or watch TV...big deal. Play cards for entertainment in the evening, and cook dinner on the BBQ. Use the campground washrooms and showers, and reserve your john for night use only. The money you would save from not using any hook ups over an entire summer, will keep you in booze over the entire winter..lol
