Need some ideas on storage. I plan on a full cover for my C but outside so how do I keep the critters out? I live in southern AZ. Thanks

I have a 2019 Class C Winnebago outlook on a 2018 ford e450. The running boards are so narrow that they are really useless. Anyone know where or how to widen the boards. I hate to spends lots of bucks to replace. Thanks
