Had my kit installed two days ago. Now doesn,t work. Yes it worked fine on gas or 115 vac. prior to retrofit. I removed fount cover of the kit 5x8 sheetmetal now it works. Guess it restricts draft up the flew. If you haven,t checked yours on gas, may be you should. Thanks Skeet25..... I WAS trying mine on GAS... I removed the sheetmetal and it seemed to help.... Now I have to try it on Electric..... Hmmmmm I wonder if others are having the same problem? Does Dometic need to re-think what they are doing? Some times BANDAIDS leak........ In other words they DON"T work........ Maybe it's the installation. I had mine done and it works exactly the same as it did before.Re: Dometic Refer Recall - Possible Fire Hazard -Update 2/13/07 PackerBacker wrote: There certainly hasn't been a rush at any of the repair places for the fix; folks seem to just be trickling in. I thought there would be a rush also but there is not. I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and I was their 4th and they only had 6 more scheduled. It was a fairly large dealer who has been around a long time so there are many out there. I just pulled into the parking lot, they got in it and took it to their shop and delivered back to me within a hour while I broused the parts and accessories area and watched TV. Painless except for the gas to get it there and back home.Re: Dometic Refer Recall - Possible Fire Hazard -Update 2/13/07I had my kit installed last week and it works fine on both gas and electric. The refrigerator stays in the mid 30s and the freezer is really cold. I used mine both on electric and gas before I took it in to make sure it worked properly before they worked on it.Re: Dometic Refer Recall - Possible Fire Hazard -Update 2/13/07 forwardho wrote: I have been following this thread for the past 4 months. There is much valuable information given from very talented, informed, and innovative persons. I have ordered the replacement heat element and will install it within the next 2 to 3 weeks. As suggested, I will install it in the 12vdc element pocket. Then I will get the patch from Dometic, per recall, to prevent a fire. However, I do have a question. If my fridge develops a leak after the rework, will my rv insurance pay for the replacement cost? I am sure that Dometic will not! Insurance policies exclude damage due to mechanical or electrical breakdown so they would not cover the repair. If it causes a fire and they can prove the refrigerator caused the fire, you would be paid for the loss less the part or parts that caused the loss.
