All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Micro-air EasyStartHi, I installed the Micro-Air earlier this month on my Cougar TT with a 15K BTU a/c. Before the install my twin Yamaha 2000isT gennys and they wouldn't kick it over, even off eco mode. Installed the Micro-Air and now one genny runs it. I mean, it is working hard and I will still use them in twin mode, but one will do it... I am impressed! -GWRe: 15K BTU A/C and Generators BCtoAB wrote: I was just about to buy the 3300 firman from costco hoping it would run my 15k AC. I too have a keyston cougar. So im assuming by your post it could not run the AC? It did not, nor did my twin Yamaha 2000isT units. I am going with and EasyStart Soft Starter... no way I am hauling around a 4000 watt generator... would need a forklift to move it... -GWRe: New trailer: WDH, Generator canuckystan wrote: Just wondering if I even need a WDH, dealer says no.... The generator will use a trickle charger to charge the batteries and will take a fairly long time. I believe it was in the realm of 3-4 hours if they were about half. 2 ea 6V batteries will do you for a weekend with moderate use in my experience. I only use a 100 w solar panel and my generators run when we use appliances and what not, so that would be the only reason to use a genny. Just my thoughts. Good luck! Here is what I would do... try it without, worst case is you will need to purchase one. Any (well a good dealer) would have stock and be able to set you up. The trailer isn't too heavy IMHO, I would go without. I had a small trailer before this one with a Ram 1500. Roughly the same dims and weights as yours, I just used a height adjustable hitch that I picked up at Canadian Tire. -GWRe: New trailer: WDH, GeneratorCongrats on the new rig! I think I'm going to look at the Yamahas. -GW15K BTU A/C and GeneratorsOkay... so I have been to my dealer, I have researched the internet from end-to-end, and I am still unsure of what my generator selection should be. I bought a Firman 3300 from Costco, it was a piece of junk... Lesson learned, going to buy a Honda or two. Anyone running generators with a 15K BTU a/c - does a Honda 3000 inverter generator have enough or should I go and get two 2000's and parallel them? I want real facts, so to RV.net I go. Thanks in advance for your insight!Re: How to find the average price for a winnebago minnie dropUse the NADA guides. They give you a good idea what wholesale is and what the average asking price is. http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs -GWRe: Travel trailer security - keep it or stuff from being stolen fitznj wrote: in 26 years of camping, I've never had a problem. I lock the doors and use a hitch lock. My generator is chained to a tree and there is nothing of real value inside; Oh........ and I have insurance. Ditto for us... Camped across Canada and the Northern USA with not an issue. Lock up the easy stuff to go, like the generator, and lock the door and hitch and enjoy. -GWRe: Keystone TTWe purchased a Keystone Cougar H/T last season, it is a fantastic trailer. On our search for a new one, we looked at them all. I used to sell TTs at one point in life and I was very pleased with the build quality of the Cougar. I cannot speak for other brands of Keystone, but happy with my unit! Good Luck and Happy Camping! -GW
