All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: RV types for full timingAnother important thing to consider is the RV you plan on full-timing in designed and built for more that two seasons? All too often I read about people trying to get their RV ready for their first winter. Skirting, extra insulation, 2 or 3 more heaters, heat lamps in storage areas. I have neighbors in the park we're staying at (central AL) have freezing issues every time the temps drop to 20 or lower. Most of the reason for this problem is weekender rigs used for full-timing.Re: Coachmen Brookstone 395RL Bob Vaughn wrote: Our friends just went and looked at the 2015 Coachmen BROOKSTONE 375FL and the thing that kept them from buying was the fact that you cannot get a king mattress in the bedroom. Now that would not be that big of a deal for us.... I think that your friends dealer did a disservice because the 375FL is available with a king bed. In case you haven't seen it yet, the bunk room is in the middle of the coach, and can also be used as an office, a den or for storage. Also has a loft above it, which connects to the bath. Back and front are traditional RL type floorplans, so this is very unique. We were looking at the Silverback bunk floorplans, but this one has more of the traditional feel we're looking for. MSRP will depend on options that are ordered but the one on the lot near me is $81082.Re: The Zen of Full Timing - Living ComfortablyAfter full-timing for over two years I have to agree with 4x4dodger. It's the little things that make the difference in your life and how you enjoy it. Yes we have paper plates and use them for pizza night but we still use our 6 place dinnerware the rest of the time for our meals. The same goes for everything else. This lifestyle or "attachment" is the difference between full-timing and camping. To us camping is sleeping outside, on the ground, cold and wet. Full-timing is living our lives free to be where we want and not having to endure the roughing it aspect.Re: Soliciting thoughts, considering building my own rig.Have you considered a used racecar hauler? Old NASCAR hauler? Most of the systems you need to add to a moving van would already be there.Re: Have you ever heard of paying for pre-delivery inspection??Make sure you also known the costs of registration and title. Those too can be inflated by dealers. Have them explain what their "documentation fee" encompasses. If buying out of your home state know if you need to pay sales tax or not. Knowledge is power.Re: Heading South rattleNsmoke wrote: Ahhh. 6 inches of snow makes sense. 6 feet gave me a visual of a plow blade hooked to the rear bumper of the fiver. Would that increase or decrease the pin weight? I need to know because I'm buying a 2015 Colorado and I don't want to overload it. :BRe: Should we be considering other brands/models?I do hope you have included the weight of the double pane windows into your calculations. They do not show up in the posted material on the GD website only after the coach is built and weight prior to delivery. Now this will not change you GVWR but it will decrease your cargo carrying capacity.Re: A NEW SRW vs DRW pulling a short heavy FWUsing the numbers you provided 4020 lbs. of cargo leaves 620 lbs. for people and gear in the truck. Figuring you two are not stick people subtract 300 lbs. and you are left with 320 lbs. for anything else you want to carry in the truck. Oops, forgot to include the weight of the hitch, 200 lbs. so you are now down to 120 lbs. Not much of a safety factor in my opinion.Re: maybe a dumb questionI just do all the things that make look older than I am. I drive around the park and town with turn signal on all the time, I don't color my premature grey hair and I have my pants hiked up to nearly my armpits. Also sitting in a lawn chair all day long watching the comings and goings of people cements the deal. :)
