Yep, they must be dumb as a sack of rocks to go after the new RV sale vs that $25 sewer hose. I spent 500 dollars that day, and camping world is generally more expensive, but the selection is higher. Also, they make considerably more money on the back end and in parts and accessories than new sales. Camping world is like a gas station, they sell lots of gas, but they make money when people come inside and buy drinks and snacks. Even if they didn't, it's still a flawed business model. Without repeat customers they have no real income. If they didn't want repeat customers, they wouldn't have giant service, parts, and retail stores. So I'm gonna have to disagree with your logic there.Re: Camping world in Fort Worth is dumb ford truck guy wrote: My experience with the 3 Camping Worlds ( all East Coast ) that I have been in over the past few years is that they ALL have tried to gear up the inventory ( smaller, entry level ) and all available spots were full with something.... Doesn't make it a bad thing.. Just adding to their bottom line I mean, it is a bad thing. The entire ideology of the business model is to be friendly to rvers. Preventing them from even coming to your stores seems a bit backward.Re: Camping world in Fort Worth is dumb RetiredRealtorRick wrote: I find it interesting that RV dealer lots are jam-packed, over-full of new units, yet Thor 'claims' they have so many back orders they may not be able to fill them until 2023. Oh, really? As Paul Harvey used to say, I'd like to hear "the rest of the story" . . . i.e. the truth. For what it's worth, the only thing they had were relatively cheaper models. I saw a single class C, and a single class A, both used. It looks like perhaps they're gearing up for spring and all the new entry-level campers. I was in Class A that's only 34 feet long and literally wasn't able to enter the parking lot whatsoever. I think I'm more annoyed that I wasn't able to use the dump station. THat's one of the perks they list with good sam and I was driving around with a pretty full blank tank. It was pretty frustrating.Camping world in Fort Worth is dumbWe wen't out of our way today to hit up the camping world in fort worth so we could dump our black tank as we destroyed our hose, figured we'd buy one and dump it there. We showed up and they were so interested in selling RV's, they literally had EVERY SINGLE rv spot blocked with new units. We were unable to park at camping world, had to go about 2500 feet away at another store. Once we were in, they told us they had so much inventory they had to block the spaces, and they had to block the dump station and were unable to make room for us to dump. I'd suggest that if anyone needs to stop at a camping world, they don't do it at this one. And if camping world cares about existing customers, not just new ones, they should REALLY find a way to make parking happen. I have better access at walmart than I do at most camping worlds.Re: battery issues on new TTProbably a silly question, but if the battery disconnect is off, there should be no power at all coming from the battery, why aren't you disconnecting it?Re: Buying 1st Travel Trailer Go Large or Not?I'm sorry you have to deal with all the people who can't do basic math. If the trailer is within the limitations that your truck is capable of, then so be it. I noticed a couple of people were saying don't pay attention to the dry weight.... ffs, sorry for them too. The dry weight of the trailer is the most important weight you can look at. This is how you get an idea of how much the trailer weighs before you add propane, water, goods, etc. Since it has a GVWR the logic is you must know the exact weight of everything going into the trailer. Take your try weight, and add all that additional weight you added to the dry weight. Then you have your weight. Why anyone would tell you dry weight is basically useless, just can't do basic math. Now, your truck, with a 10K towing capacity. IF your trailer weighs 8k dry, let's just ASSUME you manage to add 1000 pounds worth of ****, so it gets up to 9k, you're still within your limits. That will put you at around 800 - 1000 pounds in tongue weight. You didn't mention your payload ( or at least I did not see it ), if you have an extra 1000 pounds of payload on a ram, kudos to you. The only thing i see here is " not doable " is going to be your payload, and that's even debatable, I don't know what your payload is, though I'm assuming it's somehwere around 1600 / 1800. After adding in kids / animals / wive(s), what's left?. Everything else is within your limitations. you have a long trailer, and that ram has a short wheelbase compared to other full 1 ton trucks. However, they don't sell trucks and say " Gotta keep the length below X ". Have fun!Re: New Rig Keystone Hideout donn0128 wrote: And your going to attempt to pull this 28 foot long 7600 pound GVWR trailer with a Colorado? Good luck with that! I mean is it just you in a stripped truck? How about your family? Pets? Stuff you normally carry? Or are you buying a different truck, maybe a real 1500? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you simply do not have enouh TV. You're pretty arrogant for someone who's wrong. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for you, but either you jumped to conclusions, or you're incapable of reading. Trailer : Hitch Weight 610 lbs Dry Weight 5530 lbs I do admire that you said 7600 pound GVWR trailer, but you don't really know if he'll be traveling with fresh water, or what he'll be traveling with. You can preach all day what the GVWR is, if he's not using it, he's not needing to factor it in. What if he only has 500 pounds of ****, which is considerably more than most of us have in our trailers anyways. so 6k, Colorado, while not a good choice, is more than capable of handling that weight. Moreover, the payload on this thing is 1410 lbs, add female passenger at 150, and two kids at 50 that's 250, full tank of gas is 155 pounds, and that's being liberal, saying he has a 25 gallon tank. That puts him at 605, leaving him with a payload of about 1000 pounds. 10% of his 6000 pound trailer, or hell, we'll even say 7600 like you said, still with a real world usage of 10% and 6k, would be about 600-650 pounds at the tongue, well within his vehicles capability. the only argument you have here is that the GVWR is 7600. That's like saying my truck can tow 21000 pounds, and in Arkansas I would need a clas a ( non restricted license ) merely because my truck is CAPABLE of hauling that much, not that i am hauling that much. Nothing more than ignorance.Re: Adding 2nd air, converting from 30 amp to 50 amp Bird Freak wrote: This is not true in all cases. I have a 30 amp unit and my bedroom vent is prewired for a/c. Ehh... Your trailer is 2nd AC prepped, considerably different than what he said. having prep for a 2nd AC without a 50AMP service is mostly useless, and would only have been done either by mistake, or custom order. The dealerships are not going to order rigs like this, they don't sell, and there is a reason for it.Re: ? 3 Purchasing QuestionsMost of the dealers around my part don't negotiate at all. I went' to between 10-14 different dealers and only one was willing to negotiate, and they came off 150 bucks on a pretty ugly looking 2019 vibe. I think a lot of it has to do with where you live in the country.Re: A bit of a scam rv_kayaker wrote: I recently renewed my membership for 3 years based on the "two $25 merchandise certificates" offer. There was no explanation about conditions for using the certificates. I anticipated using them for on-line shopping. When they arrived today, I discovered that both certificates are only good in store. The nearest store is about 1 1/2 hours away. In addition, one expires in 3 weeks and the other is valid for 4 weeks starting a month from now. Spending 3 hours driving to save $25 is a waste. I definitely feel like i got scammed. It actually says it on the website, prior to you paying. you just didn't read.
