Dometic CF40 (CoolFreeze) acting up badly
The portable 12v/120v Dometic refrigerator/freezer will not stop freezing everything regardless of where I set the temperature. It is 12 years old. Dometic says it "COULD" be the control board. Not sure if I can find a control board. A replacement model for a similar unit is over $900. How would you proceed? Thanks.486Views0likes1CommentLet's talk dirt
Need recommendations on how to clean and protect my Winnebago 11 year old fiberglass roof. It spent 6 months under an oak tree in Florida and looks just plain filthy. Thinking dawn soap for surface clean then Dicor Clean and Prep followed by Dicor Fiberglass RV Roof Coating. Any experience with these or other products? Long story short: The motor for my 11 year old Aquahot 450 died and was replaced with a new smaller motor: same mounts, just smaller overall size. Tech said "this is the new version". During the motor replacement a lot of diesel fuel, estimate 2-3 gallons, leaked into the bay and onto the ground. Tech said nothing he could do to stop it until I really complained and he seemed to be able to slow down the leaking. He also installed new nozzle even though the nozzle was only 3 months old. Aquahot now makes a good deal of exhaust pipe smoke when before there was NONE. Also smoke can be seen at the 90 degree elbow leading from the aquahot to the exhaust pipe. Tech said all the smoke would clear "after a while". It's been a few weeks and smoking hasn't subsided. I am now 1500 miles from where I had the repair done. I had my Aquahot 450-DE annual service about 3 months ago. The unit starting shutting down randomly after the service..could be coincidental? Green diesel burner indicator light on wall panel switch, normally green when running, would go out. I shut off the switch and turned it back on and the aquahot would fire up. This procedure worked for about a week. Today it would not fire up but I could here the normal whirring sound it makes prior to igniting. After several attempts to get it to ignite I tried cycling off/on coach power to see if there was some type of reset. Now when I turn the diesel burner switch on I get nothing...not even the whirring should I had mentioned earlier. Electric element is working properly. Planning to store motor home for 6 winter months in heated storage in New England BUT will NOT be able to start the ISL-9 450hp diesel engine for 6 months. 2 years ago the truck tire shop installed 8 new Michelins (275/80R 22.5) on my tag axle diesel pusher that were a G rating. I now realize that the RV labels states it should have H rating tires. What is the difference in G and H. Weight allowed? Number of plys? Both or something else? Should I immediately switch out the tires to an H rated tire? What are the possible consequences if I don't?
