He's 93 now and I'll still ride with him!Re: towing thru the mountainsI see a lot of folks here seem to think if you leave it low gear that it will not pick up speed on the down hill. With the weight of the mh and toad you will continue pick up speed. Just completed a trip thru Az co , ut and went up and down many a 6-9 % grade with a 4 door jeep in tow. On the steep up hills found 1st gear at 3400 rpms was fine ( 20 mph) and down hills let get to about 35 to 40 mph and then hit the brakes and slowed to about 15 or 20 mph . Did not let the motor rev to over 4000 rpm. Wife really got annoyed at the roaring of the cooling fan on the up hills but I told that it's Avery good sound!Re: The tale of two toadsJust finished an almost 8000 mile trip from coast to coast towing our 14 jkur and it was a flawless trip for both the mh and jeep.Re: Things I noticed on my trip out west.We went from Ma. to our snowbird destination in Florida , then to Red Bay Al to get the windshield replaced in our coach , then proceeded west. We had no agenda , just wing it. We stayed at least 3 nights at every location. We hit 32 states in 7279 miles. We found interesting places everywhere we went . I think the most surprising was a WWII submarine in a field in an Oklahoma War memorial park. We're in Maine now. We were in San Diego in may. We left Florida the end of march. I guess what I'm saying is this country is awesome , and rving is THE best way to see it.Re: Utah's crowded Zion National Park may require reservationsOne issue at Zion is you have to stop at entrance to either pay or use the pass and drive all the way thru it to get to Bryce Canyon. Then pay to get back thru Zion on the return trip.Re: Installed LED Tail Lights & OEM Clearance Lights Go DeadTry them with engine running. I put replacement led tail lights on my 79 cj7 and went thru everything because they won't work when attached to the mh. Started the motor in th mh and they work. Don't know why. But give it a shot.Re: Jeep Commander 2007 towable?Had a 2007 commander and after the n23 recall on the transfer case it would never shift into neutral . Went back 4 times and they could not get it to work correctly. So got rid of it . If you road test it bring a pen with you as that's what you need to shift it ( the transfer case) into neutral. If you do a search on this forum there's a lot of info on jeeps recall screw up. There also very heavy. Mine weighed 5400 lbs. mileage was only 14 on highway. That was with the 4.7 . If it never had the recall done your better off.Re: New Jersey rest areasWe've stayed in Thomas Edison ( I think that's what they call it) rest area a couple of times with no issues. Just make sure you angle the motorhome so you can drive out. People sleeping in cars have a way of boxing you in after you've already turned in for the night!Re: Why would anyone want an outside TV?It' the volume that mostly at fault. Although did have one on the site next to us at Disney's Fort Wilderness, the tv was on for a weekend with 2 chairs set up and never saw anyone there.Re: Why would anyone want an outside TV?For those with the outside TV's please remember that it's quite possible that your neighbors might not be as interested in what your watching as you are. I like the idea of the wireless head phones. Maybe you could get enough pairs for all your guests.
