Huge storage with large enough baggage doors to get our stuff in and out easily. 3. Bunkhouse with extra beds for friends 4. Large slide in living areaRe: Laundry chute in a TTI LOVE mine. I hated tripping over a basket or moving it around all the time in the old TT so this was a must have for us. Basket travels inside our bedroom on the way to the campsite with our chairs are stored underneath for traveling. Get to the campsite, take out the chairs and insert basket. I don't have to look at it, trip over it or smell it for the duration of our vacation. Pop it back in the bedroom for the return trip with chairs stowed away until the next trip.Re: Bunk bed rails for young kids monica4patience wrote: Who would have thought that DS13 would fall out of his bunk in the bunkhouse. He did the first night out and he knocked off the "college-dorm" bed tray and his fan. Landed on top of them! He was a mighty sore boy the next day. Says he won't sleep up there again without a rail. Funny thing: he never fell last summer. Anyway, the Ikea bed rail looks like it could work. We live a few miles away from a store so it'll be easy to get. Question: is the rail easy on - easy off? I'd like to have one available for the drop-down bunk to put on when we have guests. I don't think it would work if it was a permanent install. In our bunks, it just slips on and off whenever we need them. I always take them down and lay them across the bunks when we travel.Re: does anyone bring coolers anymore with full fridges? We have a large cooler in the back of the pickup gets loaded up with drinks last thing before we pull out of the driveway. A quick stop at Micky D's for a couple bags of ice and we're off camping. It goes outside right next to the TT door so the kids (and us) don't have to trek in and out of the camper for something to drink all weekend. We upgraded to a Coleman Xtreme 5 day cooler last year and LOVE it. For a long weekend we don't need to add any ice after the initial filling.Re: Bunk bed rails for young kids HeyJude wrote: StaceyE wrote: I wanted to add a bedrail to our new trailer because the bunks are open all along one side. We didn't use one in the old trailer because the bunks were tucked next to the bathroom. Our girls are older, so the baby section at Walmart is out because they would NOT want to sleep on those bars under the wimpy bunkbed mattresses. We found this at ikea and it works perfectly. It's just big enough to keep from kids from rolling of the beds but doesn't get in the way of anything. Probably not the best solution for a younger child but works really well for our girls. Those are great, how do they attach to the bed? Are those clamps? They are clamps, our bunks have a wood lip that hold the mattress in place. They aren't big rails that block off the whole bunk bed area - my girls are 15 and 10 so I just wanted to add something small because the bunks felt so open. I'll take a picture with them installed if I can later today.Re: Lessons we've learned over the yearsWhen hooking up to water at the campsite, do a quick check to be sure all the faucets are off just in case your darling daughter turned them all on for who knows what reason. Walking into the trailer with overflowing sinks and very wet floors does not make for a good start to the trip. Plus, nobody wants to swim for the first day because the beach towels are all soaking wet and hanging out to dry.Re: Camp foodWe love teriyaki marinated flank steak - cut into thin little strips across the grain after it's grilled - always a family favorite. I usually serve it with roasted potatoes as well and lightly sauteed fresh green beans - that is making me hungry now! A new dinner I've been making while camping lately is roasting a fresh, bone-in turkey breast in a dutch oven low and slow in the coals. I lay it on a bed of orange, lime, and lemon slices with quartered onions and cloves of garlic, then I lightly butter under the skin with some basil, rosemary, and thyme. Turns out really well, serve that with precooked mashed potatoes, sauteed, julienned carrots, and sliced cranberry jelly. A summer version of thanksgiving dinner.Re: ~Post your campsite photos here~We stayed at Maumee Bay State Park in Ohio on our way to New York to see Niagara Falls. The campground was beautiful, large sites, level asphalt pads, and lots to do with bike trails, two beaches, a nature center, etc. The downside to having campsites cut into prairie grasses was the the unbelievable number of ticks. We couldn't walk on the grass without one trying to latch on for a meal. That meant the dog had to stay in the camper and we spent VERY little time outside to enjoy the campsite. We were in site #29 - the first site of the row. Re: ~Post your campsite photos here~ CampingBugs wrote: parkersdad wrote: Looks like a great campsite -- do you recall what site # it was? I like to make note of these things (and I know others do as well) when I see a campsite that appeals to me. I have a list of places, campgrounds, and nice site numbers to try out over the years! :D Ludington SP is def on my list and this is actually the first campsite pic from there that I have seen. I like what I see - are they are similar or do they vary? Ludington is one of our favorite places to camp, but unfortunately most of the campsites don't look like that. And, because it books up just about 6 months to the day we usually end up with whatever was cancelled by someone else. We love the park despite the small packed sites because there is just so much to do there.Re: Bunk bed rails for young kidsI wanted to add a bedrail to our new trailer because the bunks are open all along one side.
