One thing Newell had way before Prevost is slides. And the quad slide Newell's are cavernous inside and of course their overall fit and finish is second to none! I'm really happy for my friend and I'll admit a little envious. Thank you all for your kind responses. I think I remember somewhere along the line that one rub against the Newell was its weight. I don't remember if it was total coach weight or front axle weight. Do you remember or am I thinking of another coach? And to his credit he never asked me about mileage. So I told him 8'ish! I think that's right?Re: Oops… Went to buy Newmar then saw a Newell.Hi LouLawrence and great to hear from you. I find we have something in common. I just sold my 1991 Prevost and know exactly what you're talking about. It's 30 years old, still in great shape! All the woodwork, cabinetry, counter tops etc. still look like new. And all the doors and drawers inside and outside the coach work perfectly. The build quality is just that good even after that many years! No disrespect intended to anyone but it's as you said. You cannot compare a Prevost and Newell to production coaches, you just can't! My engine was the 8V92 and you can have a little more difficulty finding folks who work on them. But that said, not too much! You have the Detroit series 60 diesel and there are many shops working on the Detroit engine and Allison Tranny. Maybe where you get in trouble is when some proprietary item needs work. Most times you can call the converter and they can give direction, but for things in general you can keep yourself on the road. I didn't know that there are places around the country to service Newell's. But I do remember seeing Newell's in a Prevost shop! I wasn't sure about Newell because they're one brand made in one place. But I'm happy to hear what you said! As I said in my initial post, my friend was there to buy a Newmar Essex and just wanted me to see it. This Newell really knocked him for a loop and it is one beautiful coach. Two owner, all paperwork and always kept indoors! I believe he's buying it Friday!Oops… Went to buy Newmar then saw a Newell.I went with a friend to buy a 2010 Newmar Essex but something happened… There was a Newell parked right next to it. It’s a 2003 we came to find out and the same money as the Newmar. The Newmar is a fine looking coach but the Newell oh my! His main question was 1. Can I get the Newell worked on across the country? 2. Will the much more expensive Newell (when new) hold up better than Newmar? You have any thoughts?Re: Need your help Pinnacle Vs Redwood?Well I’m wrong again… He did not buy the Riverstone, he thought he had a deal but didn’t. So he bought a Alliance Paradiam. Yes this time he actually bought it! So to simplify this for us… He narrowed his search to a Jayco Pinnacle or Crossroads Redwood, thought he bought a Forest River Riverstone and then purchased an Alliance Paradiam! Makes perfect sense when you see it that way right? ;) He must have saved himself $50,000 but my what a difference in coaches. Not that Alliance doesn’t build a nice Coach. Oh well, thanks for your input guys, you’re the best.Re: Need your help Pinnacle Vs Redwood?Jim, your comment was worth waiting for for sure and I thank you for it. It’s a funny thing how someone has narrowed things down to two coaches then goes out and buys another one. He bought a new Forest River Riverstone rear kitchen model. To hear him say it, he walked in, took one look and it spoke to him! I admit I don’t know that much about Riverstone but to hear him tell it it’s something to only be spoken of in hush tones! I don’t know about all of that, but I think it’s great he’s so happy with what he found. He said the Riverstone has 3” sidewalls where the the others have 2” etc. Oh well, thanks for your help guys and sorry I got us going the wrong direction. I was just thinking, that must make the Coach a lot heavier right?Re: Need your help Pinnacle Vs Redwood?Good stuff about the Redwood! And you’re right… They all have problems and so much depends on how the builder/dealer perform? All good stuff guys. I just read that the Redwood is the number 1 seller of luxury fifth wheels.Re: Need your help Pinnacle Vs Redwood?Hi ford truck guy, When I ask someone to comment on something they own. I most often ask “Would you buy it again”? And you did! That in itself tells volumes. All I really know about Redwood is there’s nothing like it’s full body paint. Seeing one on the road is really worth seeing. I hope Jim does comment, I’d really like to know what he has to say about why he decided on Pinnacle and how happy he is with his choice?Need your help Pinnacle Vs Redwood?Hi guys, A friend of mine (he doesn’t go on line… yah really) is looking at a new 2022 Jayco Pinnacle or Crossroads Redwood. I know the coaches but not enough to make a recommendation. Do you own one or have a recommendation beyond what they may say in New York City? Thanks guysRe: Do you own the New River Ranch by Columbus? There are so many little things to like about the River Ranch. I’m 6’3” so the 7’ ceiling height throughout the Coach is important. The residential Insignia stove that’s Turkey size. The 26 CF refrigerator with water and ice in the door. Huge stainless steel sink and nice size pantry. The theater seating has the wide armrest and cushion size so two adults can actually sit in comfort without touching and being right on top of each other. The super large shower, the fireplace in the master and TV built into a televator and not just hanging on the wall like some last minute item. The space between the bed and dresser is nice and wide. And let’s not forget the new Firefly system that runs the Coach. If there’s a better control system for an RV I’ve not seen it! And let’s not forget the large 36” entry door. The pinbox is the best in the business as is the water bay. The 50 amp take up reel will hold up to 30 foot and we haven’t even talked about over 500 CF of storage space. Oh and the walls are Azdel, the basement floor is one solid piece composet floor and the same thing is true under all the slides. No painted over fiberboard baby! A lot of really good, well thought out stuff in the River Ranch. A lot of stuff done right ands it’s just going into year three. I’ve looked at a lot of fifth wheels and RR has a lot going for her!Re: Do you own the New River Ranch by Columbus?Hi cj99, What you mentioned about the wiring, are you talking about your River Ranch or RV’s in general? I was told the wiring in the RR is very easy to get too and is easy to work on because of the full basement. Is that right? Another guy said it’s an excellent 4 season coach. Do you agree with that? He has the 3 roof airs. And the 12 gal water heater.
