I’ll start to look at thingsRe: The dreaded Tire explosion MDKMDK wrote: Tom/Barb wrote: OEM tires what came from the factory on the coach? really dump ?? How old? Date code ? maker ? truck tire or coach tire? Good questions. 2015 to 2022 is probably right around the "time to replace the aged out OEM tires". Maybe just a bit past due? I'm at 5 years out from the chassis factory, with *only* 35,000 miles on the OEMs, and I started watching mine for odd or uneven treadwear and anything else, at every stop on the road. Interesting that the TPMS didn't note any issues, and didn't prevent the catastrophic failure. Their scope of usefulness is limited to slow leaks only. When one decided to go, the TPMS just watched it happen. Regular checking and a good pressure gauge is still worth having. Yes, they were a bit past due to be replaced. Original Michelin LTX from 2015 date code. Still about 3/4 tread. I thought I was ok for a while yet since it’s garage kept and no dry rot or cracks. But guess I pushed them a little too long. Yes, pressures and temps were good. I suspect I lost a cord/belt.Re: The dreaded Tire explosion valhalla360 wrote: johnwalkerpa1 wrote: Are there replacements for the wheel well (preferably something more substantial than the cheap plastic that was there)? Or is fabricating something myself the best option? I'm sure you could fabricate something but a 20-30lb chunk of rubber hitting the wheel well while doing 65mph and it's going to have to be 1/2 inch steel plate and even then it's likely to be dented by the impact. Yes, I was sort of thinking that as well. I may just replace it as is...assuming I can get the part...I guess the odds are in my favor considering this was my first tire issue of any kind in 7 years...The dreaded Tire explosionOn a recent trip I lost an inside rear dual tire to a blow out. I felt something funny (probably a bulge or bubble) when I was about 3 miles from the night's campground. Tire pressure and temp was still normal via TPMS when I pulled over to look. Then, Under the category of "dumb decisions I made" I thought, since I am only 3 miles I'll go onto the campground and take a closer look. 1/2 a mile down the road there was a mighty bang. I had the tools/spare with me to change it and made it the rest of the way for the night and the trip. But, the blowout pretty much obliterated my wheel well on that side. Fortunately little other damage other than a marker light and a furnace air duct. Are there replacements for the wheel well (preferably something more substantial than the cheap plastic that was there)? Or is fabricating something myself the best option? Its a 2015 Forest River Sunseeker model 3010DS And yes, all tires are getting replaced before the next trip.Ford V10 Running hotI have a 2015 (chassis 2014) 32 foot Class C running the Ford V10. I flat tow a 3500 pound car. On a recent trip to West Virginia and Kentucky it started to run hot on the grades. I run it in tow-haul on the grades and don't try to go over them at 65-70mph.... Since new I've had it all over North America and ran the same setup and never had an issue so this is new. In the past I'd typically run (via Scan Gauge numbers), an average temp of 195-205 on the radiator and about the same or less on on the transmission. Once in a great while I'd get to 220 on long (5-7 mile) grades. On this last trip I found my self hitting 240 on a couple of grades before I backed it down to "creep and crawl" to keep it from getting hotter. So....I am thinking to go through the usual subjects in this order....thermostat, fan, radiator hoses, water pump, then the radiator itself. Thoughts or ideas? Thanks!Re: Planning summer 2022 trip to Alaska Fly/RentLots of good advice so I'll only touch on one point. You had asked about length and if there'd be any limitations going longer. In general, no. Alaska is one of the easiest places you'll find to drive your rig at least from a size perspective. There is lots of room.Re: Dry as a bone,…againLots of good suggestions on things to check and ways to reduce water usage. But, in the end, the fact is that 29 gallons is not a lot of water.Re: Cant find a place to stay near Harrisburg, PA, help! GDS-3950BH wrote: bgum wrote: Gifford Pinchot state park. Has hookups. Rate is about 23. On lake near Wellsville. Has a real good senior citizen discount. Unfortunately I think one would find that every single FHU site at GP and every other PA state park is booked solid for every weekend the entire season. PA state parks have a very limited number of FHU sites, most have none at all. It was only in recent years they started converting some to FHU,and it takes them years to upgrade as they use the local maintenence staff to do the upgrades. I can confirm this is true. I was looking yesterday. You'll find a few one day Tuesday or Wednesday openings but very few.Re: Delaware and Maryland camping helpI'll second Delaware Seashore State Park. Not many amenities but a great home base and you can walk (1/4 mile) to the beach. You may have trouble getting in anywhere at the beach though at this point. Possibly tues-Thursday but Friday-Monday's are long gone most places.Re: Shower WOnt drain if Gray valve is shutWhen they are putting in the tanks, they have to cut a hole in the top of the tanks for the plumbing line drain and vent to enter the tank. They should cut it out and remove it. But they are sometimes careless and drop it in the tank and then say “oh well”. Then it’s just luck of the draw if it ever causes an issue. But I’ve seen it before!
