The 5/16th hole wasn't big enough for my "tip holder" so I sacrificed a Philips screw driver, and cut the shaft off to mount in my drill.Re: Purchase New 2011 Palomino Maverick - Caveats?NADA puts the list price as $15,000. RV's have a huge markup, and can be purchased for much less if you work at it a little. A used 8801 (which is what this one will be the day you buy it) is valued at $9820 low retail....... which is usually what they are actually worth. I think the price is high.Re: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repairStunning..............Re: Camper Hold-Downs KANSASBOB wrote: Yes that is the correct way to mount them. Yikes! I had hold down dyslexia! Up side down in the photo for sure. "Sigh"Re: Camper Hold-DownsFound the link...................... AnswerRe: Camper Hold-DownsI have a link if I can find it.......but the long stainless tube goes in front, and you crank it down 1/4 inch from no pressure, there is a spring inside. The short stainless tube goes in back, and is just tightened to snug, there is only a rubber bushing inside. Yes that is the correct way to mount them.Re: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repairWell it appears I'm pretty naive when it comes to high end Adventure Pop Up Campers. After viewing Hallmark's site, seeing how they'r built, and checking the MSRP for a new one........ I now realize this camper is very different from my bargain basement Palomino. Good Luck with your project, KBobRe: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repairJust to give you a point of reference, I paid $2100 for my Palomino, and probably only spent $200 in real money on materials to repair it, but I have a large (read hoarder)selection of building materials collect over 40 some years. One thing that is for sure.............. My camper is much stronger, and better built than a new one now. Oh......... And the Red Green duct tape repair was performed On The Way Home from picking the camper up! I came as close as you can to loosing the whole top when the front sealing strip came loose at highway speed. I heard a noise, and a rest stop sign popped up at the same time. Totally lucked out.Re: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repaircontinued................... Once I had just the thin sheet of fiberglass siding left I used it as my pattern to cut the new side out. The upper front was completely replaced, and the lower front was partially replaced. Everywhere the wood was rotten I could dig it out, but where it wasn't rotten the siding was stuck on tight, and couldn't be removed. I used a battery operated hand held circular saw to remove old wood, and square things up. The depth gauge was set to just cut the bad wood, and not the siding. It was tricky. I went to Fastenal, and bought Phillips head sheet metal screws to re install all the aluminum extrusions. #10x3/4 & #10x1. I also bought #12x3/4 & #12x1 hex head screws to replace other screws. I used somewhere around 350 new screws.Re: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repairAll I can tell you is it can be done. It's a time consuming project, but in your case......... as in mine......... it was fix it or take it to the dump and push it off. Quick back story, Bought this camper knowing it needed "some" repair, but once I started on it I found more than I expected. All I have is before and after, but it took me about 6 weeks this spring, and I learned alot. Honestly it was a fun challenge, and the end product worth it. The hook for this TC (2004 Palomino Bronco) was that other than the wood damage it was absolutely new, used only one time. It had a tarp over it so no UV damage, and the inside was perfect. On this camper I replaced the entire drivers side upper side by making a 3/4" x 13' long piece of plywood. I laminated 12" strips of 3/8" ply wood to make the long piece. The existing wood was so rotted that I just ripped it apart and scraped what was stuck to the fiberglass off.
