It does not appear to have many miles on it and the tires appear to be in excellent condition. However, we are planning a summer trip to Alaska and we are getting mixed opinions on the need to replace the tires. The guy at the dealership says it's not necessary. Any thoughts on this from someone who has done the Alcan Hwy??How much is too much?Recently purchased a new Chev Diesel, 1T, 4wd with Single rear wheels. Now we are looking for a good quality 5W and are ready to make the switch from a TT. Our first major trip will be to Alaska to full fill a life long dream. We have found an extremly well card for 2005 34.5 Hitch Hiker II. My question is this is it too big a rig for a 2 month trip to Alaska? Would we be better with a lighter shorter 5W to start with?Re: What are the top 5 brands for 5W?Are you happy with your Open Range?Re: What are the top 5 brands for 5W? Good quality weighs a lot. And requires a very strong truck. A 3500/350 Dually at a MINIMUM. In the lower and mid-range, manufactured quality is about the same. They can be OK, but all these manufacturers build a lemon once in a while. If you buy used, look at Carriage, Teton, Titanium, New-Mar. What are the top 5 brands for 5W?We are looking to switch from a TT to a 5W. Can someone list the top 5 brands for quality and dependability. ThanksOpen Range 5WI am looking to make the switch from TR to 5W and have been looking at the Open Range brand. Is this a good choice and do they make a quaity rig? Can someone rate the top 5 brands for quality and dependabilty.
