You do know that you are not allowed to go on any trips without the group here approving your itinerary .... it's in the rules! Ha ha!! Enjoy! Safe travels! Mark That can be a big problem. We plan to travel with no itinerary. We are headed to Denver but that doesn't mean we won't wind up somewhere else.We are on our wayAs I have posted before, we took delivery of our very first RV a few weeks ago. A 2105 Fleetwood. Today we began our first outing and I am excited as heck. We left upstate NY at 6:00 AM this morning. We decided to head for Denver for a few weeks. I know, we are looking at cold weather, possible snow, but that is what our travels are going to be about. Just doing what WE want to do. We spent the last couple of weeks loading the rv with all sorts of things. Hubby fell asleep most of the nights while reading manuals to the rv. We checked out every single sytem and found nothing that needed repair. We even spent a few nights sleeping in it while in our driveway. While we are gone the rv garage will be built so that when we return from this trip the rv will have a nice warm place to rest. All the concrete work, plumbing and electrical is run to the site. So we are anxious to see the results when we get back home. On to the trip. I love being able to walk around the rv while Don drives the highway. He won't let me drive it yet. He said maybe the next trip or the trip home. He is having a blast. I'm in no hurry to spoil his fun. It's taking me some time to get my sea (road) legs. If anyone knows NY roads they know how rough they are. It's taking some getting use to. Well, enough for now. I am enjoying the view from this big windshield and I need to get Don a glass of ice tea. He's getting ready to pull into a rest area and check the car we are towing. Pit stop time for me as well, but not using the rest area bathrooms. Just think, I have my own bed, sheets, blankets, pillows and bathroom. No worries about hotel bed bugs, stains or dirty bathrooms. This is the only way to travel, in my opinion. Do I sound excited?Re: warranty workHappy ending, happy camper. Now this was nice reading. No smart remarks. Things might be getting better.Re: Will this get me thrown in jail?I can assure you of one thing, this ole gal will be sipping her wine while hubby drives down the highway. I love my wine and he loves driving. Match made in heaven.Re: How do Class A rv's handle in snow? Thanks everyone for your replies. So much valuable information. I feel better now that I heard from folks with experience driving in heavy snow with their rv's. We both love snow sports and enjoy being out in it. We also love the mountains. So, at this point I won't worry about it anymore. We aren't foolish so I doubt we will do much driving in white out conditions anyway. We will be fully stocked so a few days sitting in a parking lot or something waiting on the roads to improve will just be part of the adventure to us.Re: How do Class A rv's handle in snow? darsben wrote: I have an older Fleetwood MH and am in the same area as you are. You should be fine with the following caveats; Heavy Lake effect such as occurs north of Syracuse (your from the area you know what I mean by heavy) = stay home because of white out conditions and someone will run into your rear end Use a good weather service to plan your trips either Weatherunderground or accuweather as what we have in the Syracuse area is not necessarily what we have around us. Plan to travel through snow areas non rush hour times as less people in a hurry non rush hour. If you have ever been near the Adams street exits in Syracuse this is what I try to avoid everywhere I go and since I am usually unfamiliar with the area I avoid rush hours Stay on main roads for a while after a snow storm remember the big arterials are done first then local roads. Your home will handle fine it is the other people who we worry about You are so right, Darsben. We live in the line of fire from Lake Effect storms and white outs. Completely use to that and we do love the snow. Neither of us are afraid to drive in the snow. Both grew up here and lived our entire lives here. Our only concern was the possible issues of how such a big machine would handle in such conditions. Trust me, I know how to run into a snow bank. lol. Done that a few times in my driving life. Hubby likes to try and drive through them. Guess who the winner is in that battle? Yup, the snow bank always wins.Re: How do Class A rv's handle in snow?I appreciate the suggestion on wiper blades and de-icer washer fluid. I will pass that on to the hubby. That's one thing we hadn't considered.Re: Abandoned at the Samboree Perry, Georgia Dog Folks wrote: Barbara Atlinburg: If no one has said so previously: Welcome to the forum. You can contribute a lot in two ways: 1. Respond to questions in your area of expertise/career. 2. Ask questions, so that everyone can learn by the answers. Dog Folks, Thank You for your welcome. I am learing more from reading about rv's here every day.How do Class A rv's handle in snow?Ok, we just bought our very first rv and it's a class A Fleetwood. My husband & I have been talking about winter driving and what limits it will put on us. We are from upstate NY so driving in snow is not an issue for us in a car. Neither of us has ever driven such a big vehicle on snow or ice. We don't want old man winter to limit or travels. The question is directed to those who have driven in snow storms, slush and simply winter road conditions. How does a big class A rv handle what suggestions do you have?Re: Abandoned at the Samboree Perry, Georgia garysol wrote: When I see a new member who signs up and their first post is a bashing session I get a bit defensive. I have been here for a long time and I feel like its a little community that we have all built up into something big and mostly good. Someone comes along who has added nothing and simply uses it as a soapbox only to disappear after their agenda is complete somehow feels wrong to me....... silly, I know. That might be true and I understand your point. I also understand your point about it being a little community and it being built up. I just find it unproductive when there is a small group that travels from one thread to the next doing their utmost to start the bashing. I agree that people come on here to vent sometimes. Maybe a little more understanding and less bashing would be more productive in the long run. There are plenty of people on here that support Good Sam and their various services. I came on here to learn about those services prior to making a choice. The negative and snarky comments by a few turned me against wanting to purchase services offered by Good Sam. There isn't much I can offer to this site as we are new rv owners with little to no experience. I've learned so much from these forums and enjoy reading them for the most part. There are just a few that seem hell bent on destroying this forum for everyone else.
