One of the reasons why we have a truck camper with no slides or pop up or outs, is to stealth camp. I have no issues with someone in a well kept, clean RV parking on my street. We use ours as a guest bedroom an office, a place to escape, both of us work from home. We have a Bigfoot 1500 when it's off the truck it's lowered to as low as it can go with the stabilizing stands with a wood plank and the frame that normally is under the camper when the camper is in the bed of the truck. The jacks are down but a lot of weight is supported under the camper. The last spring we stayed at a campground that was size limited to their main camp ground so the put us in the back lot, It was crazy rolling through hundreds of 25-40' rigs all stocked up right on top of each other. We drive a 2000 F350 4x4 with a 7.3 and a manual transmission. And SRW My pops he has a 2000 F350 dually 2x4 with the triton v10 and the slush box. Both trucks bone stock, and my PSD is slow off the line but it can climb a vertical wall. His is a rocketship compared to our truck. Most live aboard I know in 5th wheels move like only once or twice a year. Mostly chasing the weather. We love the simplicity of the TC, but we are younger then most TC people at under 50 we expect to get at least ten years out of a TC before the climb into the bunk is too hard. The ease and fuel economy of a truck and camper is so much better vs aeven a med sized trailer. I am not an electrical engineer. I studied electronics for one year in college so take my advice with a grain of salt. I run 7.5amp fuses on my USB and SAE 12v leads, for USB, Accesory or euro style. That's small enough to protect the wiring from a short, assuming reasonably gauged wiring, but it's also big enough that I can run some high draw things like heated gear on my motorcycle or a larger fan in my rig.373Views0likes0CommentsRe: 100% Silicone vs Dicor
My 2000 Bigfoot uses silicone on the bond line, around the marker lights and the vertical hatches. On the roof they used a painted on product. We are only now starting the see areas where the silicone is starting to fail. Not bad for a southern ca outdoor kept camper. When we talked to them at the new Bigfoot, they said decor for the roof silicone for vertical surfaces, but that it has to be very clean and dry for either to stick very well. When we replace our marker lights we will use silicone. We use dicor on the roof, and it for us is lasting about two years for the dicor.432Views0likes0CommentsRe: Condensation Inside TC!!?
We have a new to us 2000 Bigfoot 1500 when we camp it's normally three humans and a K9. While all of the trips have been mostly moderate temps. We've found a high level of condensation. Our solution is working to sleep a little cooler and venting if is not too windy. I like having the over cab over vent open and the cab camper window open cold air in at the bottom and the heat rising taking with it the extra moisture,372Views0likes0Comments
