There are many variables such as insulation, slides, types of shades/blinds in play here. Our 29' Holiday Rambler which we kept for 20 years cooled just fine in Texas with the one 13,500 btu A/C. It did not have slide outs though. Used it all over Texas and never had any issue with not keeping us cool in the hottest times of the year.Re: Super Glide Hitch ownersIt could be your adapter plate or the adjustment on the front stop. My adapter plate is attached by four set screws and it is always been a little loose. It does clunk a little when I start and stop, but I can see and hear the difference between that noise and the front adjustment being too loose. When the front adjustment gets loose the noise is much louder and I can feel it much more. The front adjustment nut must be tight enough that it is difficult to rotate the hitch head. If yours is one of the newer ones it will not have the nylon bushing, only a flat steel against the steel front of the hitch head.Re: Salt Lake City KOAThe SLC KOA is a very large park with large spaces. This time of year there are plenty of spaces available. Pretty good access from I15 and I80. Really convenient to downtown using the Trax Light Rail which has a stop right across the street from the office.Re: FullTimer goin' 5th Wheel Shoppin'I wouldn't argue with your brand selections, but I would advise you to consider getting a professional inspection of any unit you are seriously considering. Several of your choices are going to be several years old with your budget and the past maintenance is a big unknown. Any water intrusion will severely damage any unit regardless of the brand. Sometimes these repairs are cleverly hidden/covered up. Just like a S&B house start at the top (roof), look for evidence of regular maintenance (condition of caulking) and condition of roof. Look at all systems especially the slide mechanisms, landing gear, plumbing (look closely under sinks, tubs and showers)for evidence of leaks. Look at all of the flooring around the entire perimeter of the unit for soft spots/rot/mold. Pay close attention under all windows, and in front of the exterior door. This may sound a bit paranoid, but RV's just don't fare well if they aren't maintained properly. There are some well maintained units out there and when you come up on one it will stand out. Good luck in your search and enjoy the new life!Re: Gas can mysteryRoyB is on the right track. We have transitioned from winter gasoline to summer gasoline. Gasoline purchased during the late fall to early spring is allowed to have a higher percentage of "light ends" blended in as opposed to summer blends which are heavier and will not pressure up as much as temps rise. Reid Vapor Pressure is the standard and a higher vapor pressure is and has been allowed for quite many years during the colder months.Re: 02/propane alarm keeps going offI believe that both detectors were less than $80 total. They were purchased at Home Depot store.Re: 02/propane alarm keeps going offIf yours is the Safe T Alert CO/LP combined unit, yes I had the very same issue always in the middle of the night. It has nothing to do with low voltage. I tried all of the suggestions with no success. I finally just gave up on the manufacturer (was only a few months old) and had to just pull the fuse and purchase individual units which were a lot cheaper than replacing the all in one unit. I wouldn't trust any safety device where even the manufacturer couldn't help. BTW, I have never had a single false alarm again once going with individual units in the 16 months of full timing since replacement.Re: capable truck to tow new 5th wheelI can only compare to our experiences. Should be pretty close to your situation since our 5th wheel is similar in size and weight. We went from a SRW Ford 3/4 ton to a 2013 Chevrolet DRW Diesel. The old 3/4 ton was way too light and the new truck seems to be a perfect match. Even the higher bed height wasn't a problem. Towing is a breeze and it is very stable even in cross winds and passing trucks. I have been using the truck as a daily driver for almost a year with no issues. I usually park towards the back of the parking lots and don't go through drive through fast food joints. I do go through ATM (outside lane)lines with no problems. I think one reason I have no issues with commuting is that my commute is about 30 miles round trip with around 26 being freeway which allows the truck to fully warm up and get through DPF regeneration with no problem. If you are used to a small commuter vehicle, it will take some getting use to, but for us we have always had a pick up of some sort and even my wife drives it a lot since it is our only 4WD vehicle and we get a lot of snow during the winters at our current long term spot.Re: Going from a 33' to a 40'We went from 29' to 35' to 40' over the years and I too worry much more about height. The length is not as much as an issue for us.Re: Question on Reese Hitch Rails? 10 bolt versus 4 boltThe 5 bolt Reese rails that I purchased were specified for the frame brackets that are turned out towards the tires. In other words they are longer than standard rails and a little thicker than the standard Reese rails in my other truck. I compared them side by side and the difference was obvious. I am not sure what additional strength is obtained with the center bolt as it only attaches to the truck bed, where as the outer bolts are attached through the frame brackets.
