All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionscampground near YosemiteWe are planning a west coast trip for spring 2024 that will include a visit to Yosemite the first weekend in May. I have a 35-foot Class A so I do not intend to stay inside the park. Any suggestions on the best campground outside the park to use as a base camp? Also, my wife and I are not wilderness hikers so we intend to see the touristy attractions. Should we drive our car into the park or plan to use the shuttle buses? This is a one-time trip since we live on the east coast and I don't want to mess it up.Re: Why except only 10% offYes, sunnysidebeach, you make a good point. There is no additional benefit to staying at a Good Neighbor Park as a Coast 2 Coast member than there is to staying at the same park as a Good Sam member. We are paying $150 a year in C2C membership fee for duplicate service. Someone is getting bambozzled. There only true savings with C2C is if you stay at a C2C park, and their numbers are dwindling, especially along the East Coast or in resort areas.Re: Good 2023 seasonal for family of 4 near NJ?Consult a campground directory and check out the campgrounds in Sussex and Warren counties. I know many of them have seasonal sites.Re: New Jersey to CaliforniaI'm with Mayor30, depending on where you are leaving from in New Jersey, you want to avoid the Penn Turnpike. It is a hefty toll. I pay almost $30 just to go from New Jersey to the Harrisburg area. It will probably cost you almost almost $50 to get to where I-70 branches off near Pittsburgh. You can check the toll calculator at the Penn Turnpike website. If you take I-80, stay straight toward Akron when you get to Ohio. That will take you to I-71 that you take south to Columbus. Another idea, depending on time and where you want to go, is take I-81 south through Virginia than I-40 across the country.Re: Overnight stop in CT, NY, or NJ? Suggestions needed.Depending on when you arrive in New Jersey and how you feel about KOAs, there is a KOA off Route 295, Exit 18. It is listed as Philadelphia South but it is in New Jersey. You would take Rt. 295 north from the Delaware Memorial Bridge rather than the N.J. Turnpike. There are also a few campgrounds in the Jackson area near Rt. 195 in central New Jersey, but they are farther off your route if you are just looking for an overnight stop. You won't find anything suitable in North Jersey.Re: Least expensive EZ-PassIf your state offers EZPass you are best to get it there because it usually provides a discount for in-state use. If not, I don't know what is the best answer. New York charges a $1 monthly Port Authority fee.Re: Pa TurnpikeThe Pennsylvania Turnpike no longer accepts cash. It is EZ Pass or pay by mail. No one mans the toll booths.Re: park level designationsThank you, C2C, for calling and discussing our concerns. It demonstrates a level of responsibility to your members and a willingness to listen to feedback.park level designationsWhile making a trip across the country from New Jersey we utilized the coast to coast network. We reserved and stayed at several resorts classified as DELUXE resorts. They were, to say the least, as far from deluxe as you could get. One was in Virginia, one in Tennessee, and one in New Mexico. The one in Virginia had horrible interior roads, sites were dirt or gravel, and the club house was dirty and unkempt. Tennessee's was gravel and grass sites with no amenities, no table, no nothing. In New Mexico, our deluxe campsite had no amenities. There was no room to put out our awning, nor was there a picnic table. There was hardly enough room to get in and out of the motor home. I question the use of the word deluxe in describing these resorts in the coast to coast book. Other times we have stayed in Coast to coast resorts and have been given the worst sites available, where you cant even level your RV on dirt sites, one in particular in Georgia. I realize that that we are using trip points , but does that mean we are given the worst sites in the campground.Re: EZ-PASS rate disputeHey Camperfriendly, Next time you cross the Delaware take down the E-ZPass and pay cash. I had to do that with my MH pulling a toad. E-ZPass would charge me about $13 for a 4-axle vehicle but if I paid cash I was charged one rate for the MH and another $1 for the toad. Saved me about $5. This trick does not work at the Delaware Memorial Bridge crossing into Delaware. Only on the North Jersey bridges on I-78 and I-80.
