Listing all the battery/inverter components, and coffee maker(etc.)wattage/hour and how long you could expect to easily keep your coffee warm, and your CFL lighting, and oscillating fan going, by consensus would make a good thread. I have not researched the forum's past posts to know if this thread is already there. Anybody?Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.yes Prof., A new string for "fringe" thinking. I do not know how, yetRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.RE: sterlings of the '30's...those probably might have been full loss lubes, like the Harleys of a few years earlier. In other words, not of the tolerances, low friction metallurgy, faster boiling/cooling mixtures,....you get my point. Dean Kane, the Mr.wizard of today, has one out there I believe, that runs on the methane produced by dung pits in the primitive wilderness, running l.e.d.s to give light to people that live in huts, along with water purification devices that require extremely limited maintenance. And how about Winny!a hybrid Adventurer MH! Yes, I do think low power requirements for lights, solar, collected AND STORED for hydronic heat, and garbage&plant detritus to brew fuel for penurious diesel applications(the original fuel was veg. oil)will come. And we dreamers will have the first crude examples. I have duct tape in my tool box.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Prof., you seem to have picked up on my hints,at success. We "Old Timers" out in the world have learned that necessity (or ,more accurately, laziness)is the mother of invention;and as a "youngster" you are taught the "rules", but out in the field you learn the "exceptions". Just remember, there were geniuses before there was even a spoken word, and that's how we got to where we are...houses on wheels? Wait till the next crop of dreamers doesn't listen to the "that can't be done" song. I would love to drive a rod/shaft into the ground, far enough to take advantage of the delta between surface temp and sub, to make a sterling engine generator...silent powerRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Wow,right on! I do remember that red aircleaner;top hat it was called. And of course it was an Olds(brain fart). I was working for Shear and Son Oldsmobile in Chicago at the time.I worked for Nortown Olds, also. And Hanley Dawson Caddilac, and Clark Maple Chevrolet, and even Epstein Pontiac,at various times, between owning different gas stations. Had the wonder lust even back then...Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.I knew about this; I even remember the F-85 little Buick that had an injection system under the"top hat" air cleaner, and it used a "special formula" that you bought from the dealer. It was poured into a modified windshield washer jar (remember when they were glass?)that had a pump just like the WWjar, and a throttle metering hose/valve assembly. And WWII airplanes that used that injection to boost their octane deficient fuel enough to fly in thin air. I have used a simple atomized water detergent spray to decarbonize engines that seem to diesel(run-on) when ign. is shut down. Boy, sitting around a campfire with you guys would sure be entertaining.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Thanks. Ahh, the difference between knowledge and wisdom/experience. It is said"the rules are taught to youngsters in school, and the exceptions are known by the old guys in the field".... I had converted the "chonda" to tri-fuel; so I would not be stuck at the home site without power for an extended time, via natural gas(which is piped to my unattached garage for heat)and/or propane, which I store for several different applications. The generator is not all that efficient in any iteration, and having power to run the home barely is all that I require. As for the entry of the RV LPG extended stay fixture to couple to outside tanks?, get one! I did and do not regret it; I run BBQ,faux campfire, lanterns,or any combination of those(with a splitter at the end of a 12'hose, with 2 5' hoses that terminate in the 1# female cylinder end fitting),and as a matter of fact,Farm and Fleet has an adapter to refill those little cans. I don't know if it is safe, but it is neat. The other threaded fitting in that pre regulator fitting configuration is to hook up a 40-100# tank, enough to run heat, hot water, etc. for a good long time in cool weather. I put one on my "C" camper, and have one now on my "A" Roadyacht. I love to cook, so it is essential I can have fire, and hot cleaning water. I would convert my Onan genset to propane, but it isn't at the top of the to do list yet; I would add solar to my inverter first. And yes, it is a faux sine inverter, and so far, nothing bad has happened, and it is the one I installed/removed from the "C" camper I traded. 4 years and counting...9 months of the year to camp in the mid west. Thanks to you all, we are going to the FMCA in Rockford, posting from there friday nite.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.thanks,prof. I am still curious about using the differential of sun to shade to power a sterling engine/generator, I know that it could power LEDs with left over campfire heat...Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Yup Did mine with a kit from Indy.,I believe, about 3-4 years ago, when I first saw those Honda clone gensets at Costco...manual crossover switch, and my home is covered in event of prolonged power outages.
