Also use the brush/squeeze when fueling. When I get back in the MH, I'll run the wiper and washers if I left any streaks.Using 50 amp for 30 amp systemWe only only have a 30 amp system in our MH, but I've bought an adapter when only a 50 amp connection is available in a park. Would there be any advantage to using the adapter and a 50 amp connection even if the 30 amp connection were available?? I'm thinking that there might be less voltage drop in an under wired park..........................Re: A/C off of 20 amp service?I routinely run my Winny basement air conditioning on a 20 amp circuit and an extension cord. I suspect your Winny has a load control panel similar to mine. Just be sure to set it for 20 amps before turning the AC on. Otherwise, the 2nd AC unit will try to start and blow your house breaker.Re: TiresI replaced my old Goodyear tires with Hankook tires. They ride as well as the GY and were a lot cheaper than Michelin or Goodyear.Re: Ford Gas Chassis for 38 footers ? usersmanual wrote: 427435 wrote: usersmanual wrote: OK back to reality! anyone that thinks their 3 slide 38 foot ford 460 lb torque class A MH loaded and towing is in any way comparable to a mid to upper end 40Ft 4 slide 450HP 1250 lb torque Diesel pusher are living in a fantasy world IT will and can out power you on hills hands down, Out brake you coming down hands down, out GVW you hands down, never mind a much quiter ride, never mind far far superior suspension's, never mind better and more options, never mind more storage, never mind a superior build and quality all around but you beat the hell out of us on Price But we see the same scenery!!!! :) As for a quieter ride, the one DP I drove (a Monaco of about the same vintage as my gasser) wasn't any quieter. Of course the $150 worth of Dynamat helps a bunch. We agree on the scenery for sure. Dynamat or not your V10 at 5000 rpm pulling mamouth mountain ca will out scream my ISL at 2100 RPM all day long my friend mark my words on that Typical proud DP owner trying to justify the $$$$ he's spent. I've never needed to run at 5000 rpm. And for every hour of climbing a long grade, I've spent hours and hours at 3500 rpm or less. At those rpms, the major noise is wind-------------which was the same in the DP I drove. My MH, likes yours, is a depreciating asset. What I didn't spend to buy a DP, 10 years, ago is now worth more than what I paid for my MH in the first place. :CRe: Ford Gas Chassis for 38 footers ? usersmanual wrote: OK back to reality! anyone that thinks their 3 slide 38 foot ford 460 lb torque class A MH loaded and towing is in any way comparable to a mid to upper end 40Ft 4 slide 450HP 1250 lb torque Diesel pusher are living in a fantasy world IT will and can out power you on hills hands down, Out brake you coming down hands down, out GVW you hands down, never mind a much quiter ride, never mind far far superior suspension's, never mind better and more options, never mind more storage, never mind a superior build and quality all around but you beat the hell out of us on Price But we see the same scenery!!!! :) As for a quieter ride, the one DP I drove (a Monaco of about the same vintage as my gasser) wasn't any quieter. You just need to know how to use compression braking, the right gear, and the right way of using your brakes.Re: Ford Gas Chassis for 38 footers ?The usual gas vs DP stuff. All I can say is that my old, under powered at 310hp, and under geared 4 speed MH has climbed 10,000' passes pulling a 5000 lb toad without problems. The noise issues from a front engine were resolved with $150 worth of Dynamat, leaving me at least $19,850 in the stock market earning dividends compared to buying a DP. :B It also handles fine with 4 good shocks and airbags on the rear.Re: Synthetic oil questionsI believe my Ford manual also says to change oil at 3000 miles--------------but the oil recommended is dino. I suspect the Workhorse manual oil change recommendation is also when using dino oil. In either chassis, the engine is working a lot harder than in a car, thus the shorter oil change recommendation. In 3000 miles, a MH will burn 400-500 gallons. A car will take 8,000-12,000 miles (or more) to do that.Re: Synthetic oil questionsI've been using Mobil 1 15w-50 or 5w-40 in my Ford V10. Change between 5,000 and 6,000 miles. Been doing that for the last 50,000 miles. Engine is still fine. What you can do is contact Blackstone Labs and get a free sampling kit. Then send a sample in after a drain and they can tell you if you could have run the oil longer (and also how the engine is wearing). http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
