I had the RV dealer I got the RV from verify this, and that assessment is reinforced by seeing the material that was torn off by the tree branch. I do have insurance, but it has a $500 deductible that I'd really rather not shell out if there's a cheaper DIY fix I can do.DIY, cheap repair for torn vinyl roof?An unfortunate encounter with a tree branch has left me with a tear in my vinyl roof about 3 feet long, extending a few inches inward, exposing the plywood beneath and the gap between the plywood and the siding. I'm short on cash to get this fixed in a shop, so I'm looking for cheap DIY solutions. Can I just put a bunch of heavy-duty duct tape over the wound and call it good? What about applying a bunch of the sealant used around the skylights and A/C unit? Are there any other good approaches I could take?Re: Surviving the cold without heat and without winterizingMy understanding from keeping house pipes from bursting is that as long as there's a place for the pressure to go when things freeze (i.e., leave the faucets on), a little bit of water here and there shouldn't hurt anything. Is that wrong?Re: Surviving the cold without heat and without winterizing"Without no heat" *sigh* That's what I get for revising the subject line one too many times, then befriending enough Southerners that it didn't register as bad grammar :)Surviving the cold without heat and without winterizingI'm headed up to Colorado this weekend and will be spending the week in a hotel. That means I don't need to pay for an RV park with hookups, I can just leave it at some storage place. Yay! However, Colorado is cold, and nights often get below freezing, and no hookups means no heat to fight the cold. I obviously don't want pipes to burst, but buying a ton of antifreeze and running through the whole winterization process just for one tiny week in the cold sounds like a giant hassle. Can I take any sort of shortcut out of this? I figure if I drain my tank, then turn on the faucets until all of the water is gone, there's nothing left to freeze, right?
