Most policies have coverage when an incident is "sudden & accidental". So the loss of power was sudden and accidental as such the fridge might be covered. Same rule applies for the water spots -- they didn't happen 'suddenly' or 'accidentally' so your coverage probably won't apply. Best of luck with making the CG own up to the damages of either - ideally they can't be held responsible for a high mineral content in the water. Ask for a copy of your policy -- make sure you get the actual policy and not just the dec page-- and read the portion on Comprehensive coverage. It isn't in Latin and most are written pretty clearly. Pay attention to "excluded losses". Here's an interesting fact, dang few adjusters are familiar with the policy language. They all know the coverage for losses that occur every day but this one is rare. If you read the policy first and see the "sudden & accidental" verbiage and it isn't directly excluded in the excluded losses section you can win the argument by knowing more than the agent or the adjuster. It doesn't cost you anything to open a claim. If coverage is provided, your Comp deductible applies. Up the Creek is an excellent CG. After trying most of the CG's in the area that is the one we like the best. Trolley runs about every 30 minutes or so. Ask to get a site on Walden creek (sites 26-31) as they offer great shade and are close to the creek - in late August it will be really hot, humid & muggy during the day. In the Park visit Elkmont area and walk the trail along the old home sites; or drive up to New Found Gap on 441. Both are much cooler due to the elevation. G'burg & PF are a bit touristy but have some decent spots. Plan a late dinner in G'burg and eat on the roof at Loco Burro. Great view of downtown and at night its pretty nice. Insurance policies and their interpretation are subject to the laws of the state in which the coverage was purchased. So, call your state dept of insurance and ask about a statute of limitations. In many states, there isn't one. IF you had coverage with Progressive back in 2012 AND the shop can say with a very high degree of certainty that the incident in 2012 was the contributing factor to the water damage you should have some coverage in effect. There are certain exemptions and limitations, like failure to mitigate (that means to lessen the damage) but if a reasonable and prudent person thought the damage wasn't much, the duty to mitigate should go away. Your entire claim is predicated upon the shop. IF they can be convinced to strongly state the 2012 incident caused the condition which led to the damages you should have some coverage in play. Do NOT listen to the first claim rep you deal with. Ask to speak to their Unit Manager, if no satisfaction from that person ask to speak to the Branch or Claims Manager and keep going up the line. I work for an auto insurance company now and several times we have afforded coverage to an Insured who just wouldn't go away. To be sure, there has to be a case for affording coverage in the first place. We don't provide coverage to thieves. But a reasonable person, making a reasonable claim with reasonable evidence to support their position usually wins the day. They may only cover the damage that appears to be related to the loss and not all the water damage that occurred over time. I was just about to pull the trigger on the open frame Champion 3500 from a big box retailer because it was a great price (less than $300) but the specs said it ran at 68db. I went to a tool rental place and had them start an open frame genny with the same Db specs and 68Db's is loud. Too loud even 20 feet away from the camper. I'm glad I waited -- now Champion has a dual fuel inverter type 3400 max watts that runs at 59Db's. I'm waiting for the Fall sale and I'm buying that sucker. It's quite a bit more expensive ($1k). BTW -- decibel rating is progressive. There is a big difference bwtn 59Db's and 68Db's. There are some other off-brands sold by big box retailers that have great prices and horrid reviews. Sites 43 & 44 are very large. I think 44 has a bit more shade. It's a fairly long walk to the beach. There is parking close to the beach. 2 small convenient stores on the Island with limited selection. Across the bridge into Apalachicola there's an IGA. The raccoons are determined little pests so be careful with trash. If you're in pretty good shape the long, long walk along the beach toward the point with Dog Island (I think) is an amazing hike for the shells and just the Robinson Crusoe feeling of being abandoned on a deserted isle. Some locals and folks in the know drive thru the interior of the island to reach the point due to the great fishing but the "road" is just loose sand and brush and requires 4WD and experience. If you like something different hike behind the CG into the interior toward the bay and look for Osprey nest and learn about the turpentine. There was 0 cell phone service when we were there 4 yrs ago. If you enjoy being connected to the world be prepared for isolation.376Views0likes0CommentsRe: COE sites North Georgia
Ivylog offered some good advice for North Georgia. If you are set on COE CG off Lake Lanier use either Duckett Mill or Bolding Mill. Duckett has easier access back to the main highway. Helen is about an hour north of Duckett. Both Duckett and Bolding have beautiful sites with great lake views/access. Both have Water/Elec only. One thing to consider - although season dates vary year-to-year the COE just started keeping Bolding open all year. Duckett closes very early in the year. (early September). On edit -- you asked about other interesting things in the area -- Toccoa, GA -- where the 501st did boot camp (think Band of Brothers) Toccoa has a very interesting museum dedicated to the Army Air Corp base that was there in the '40's. Trout fishing -- just outside of Helen is a stocked, trophy stream that has massive rainbow trout. Special regulations apply and reservations required.
