Also, a #3000 full sided TT is gonna have a lot more wind drag to it then say a #3000 pop up trailer.. Might want to check the 'trucks' front sq/ft area rating too.. Most full size trucks are something like 60 sq/ft of frontal area. (the front of the trailer exposed to the full brunt of the air). Anyway, it's still a pretty small and "lite" trailer in the grand scheme of things and you'll get down the road.. Just be prepared for it to work a bit more than normal driving. (ie: lots more rpms and probably a lot of having to mat the gas pedal to the floor.) Mitch you lost me with tow rating means I cant carry anything in the truck also??Re: camper wieght? We won't be using tanks for the most part. I asked about scaling it and he acted like he didn't want to mess with it.Re: used camper helpthe owner contacted skyline and they are saying 2680 dry weight. my truck has a 4600lbs trailer rating but not sure about the gross with everything so going to the dealer tomorrow.Re: camper wieght?so the owner says he called skyline and they told him its 2680lbs dry. my truck manual says 4600lbs trailer weight so I'm guessing I should be okay to pull this.camper wieght?im looking at a 1984 skyline weekender 18ft and need to know the weight of it. we looked all over and found a Ul number and data plate number but cant seem to find how much this thing weighs.Re: used camper helpCan someone look this up? Skyline weekender 18ft 1984 Still can't find weight of this thing. He found a ul number and data plate # title doesn't have a weight either.Re: used camper help #1nobby wrote: People....it's an $800 32 year old trailer. It's worth $800 even if NONE of the appliances work. Check the tires and valve stems for cracking....put the appropriate amount of air in them....make sure you have a serviceable spare. Check the exterior lighting system when hooked up to your truck. If you are not sure....check / re-pack the bearings. Enjoy the trailer.....your truck should be fine. :) $600 makes it even better deal! HAHAH.Re: used camper help schlep1967 wrote: Welcome to the forum Hanklee. I don't think your truck will be a problem. Tires on the trailer and getting the trailer level when hooked to the truck seem to be your major concern. Are you leaving the trailer on the property or towing it back and forth when you want to use it? Reason I ask is the level of repairs needed will vary depending on what you are doing with it. If you are planning to drag it there once and leave it I would look for a spare tire or two and take my time pulling it there on back roads avoiding highway speeds. If you are running it back and forth then new tires are a must. I would be using it to go maybe 80miles round trip on weekends on back roads about 2-3 times a year and 1 round trip 400miles round trip on the highway. any clue how much tires and such would cost? I was also told repack the bearings. We have tent camped at our hunting spots but a new tents $400 and setup, etc. we figure for $600 have a cozy camper. if we cant tent camp a hotel cost $130 a night so a few trips would pay for the camper. he says hes coated the roof yearly and last time was last summer. opening the cabinets and such I didn't see any water spots. my main concern is leaks, safety of pulling something that old and not having to sink a lot of money in it.Re: used camper helpit has a bathroom with water and he says everything works. my main concern is the year, weight (my truck being able to pull it) leaks, etc. it will be used 2-3 times a year for hunting purposes. I have a buddy heater I can use as he said hes never used the heater so not sure it still works. he said to save on propane tanks they always used a small coleman stove which is fine with me. the main things that matter to me are electric, fridge works which I didn't think to check that, leaks, and not having it fall apart going down the highway. he says water tank works and no leaks. I will be fine using a cooler for water. this will be a weekend hunting camper so showers, etc aren't a concern.used camper helpmy buddy has a 1984 18ft camper that appears in good condition inside and out he would like $600 for. I looked inside and don't see any water damage, no smell, outside appears nice and not rusty. what should I look for in this? my other concern is weight. I have a 2009 chevy Silverado single cab short bed with a 6cyl 4.3ltr motor. I have the tow haul button but no hitch on the truck. My buddy says by looking it up online the camper weighs 2200lbs. he says some time ago he was told 1800lbs. what do you guys think? I will be pulling it 150-250miles all freeway.
