Also saw bears where the Chilkoot entered the bay and by the bridge just up from there between the bay and the weir just cruising along the river bank looking for a salmon. Ted applegater wrote: We are in Haines, just watched this evening a Sow Grizz and two cubs feeding at the fish wier on the Chilkoot. Re: Large solar panelsI have four 30v panels I moved from my prior coach to my current coach 2 years ago. I added two more for the total 6 panels (about 1300 watts). I have them wired series/parallel feeding 60V from the roof to my MidNight Solar Classic 150 controller. Works great now for about four years. I have 8 AGM batteries. I did both installs myself. Go with the residential panels verses the '12v' panels if you can. Ted Hindes Firelime wrote: I'm looking for feedback from anyone who runs the larger 24 volt solar panels? How are they holding up? Any problems? If you had to do it again would you go with smaller 12v panels? Re: Rice cooker meals??Please educate a person who has never had a rice cooker but loves rice. How does it differ from a crockpot or slow cooker? Is it just hotter and quicker? cmarq wrote: X2 My wife uses ours to cook everything sauce brown meats, I could fill the page with her uses. We have 2 small and three large ones, one small and one large stay in the motorhome our crockpots haven't been used in ages. Re: Pellet grillsI also love my Traeger. I have a Junior Elite and have used it for nearly 2 years. One thing not mentioned here is that it is a GREAT oven. I have made 2-3 double size aluminum pans of Smoked Mac and cheese that were huge hits. This is like 15 lbs of great Mac & Cheese which is a great disk for big crowds when out camping. I have never had anything come off my Traeger that was not very good. The little Junior will hold two small aluminum pans or one big pan. The website has a LOT of recipes. I carry my Traeger in the basement of my MH wherever I go. Just took the legs off it and carry a folding table for it and many other uses. TedArizona road tax on 3 axle MHs over 26,000 LbsI have seen and been intimidated by the postings on most all diesel pumps in AZ with the label stating that if you are three axles or over 26,000Lbs you must use a truck pump and pay the additional 18 cents tax. I just did some searching and find the following explanation. http://rvarizona.blogspot.com/2014/10/arizona-fuel-tax-rumor-goes-viral-heres.html As you will read in the above post our MHs are exempt from this additional tax and can thus use the RV pumps that do not charge this added tax. As it also says though, if you wish to use the truck pumps you will likely have to pay this tax.Re: Macerator pump issues tommy salmon wrote: Help please! My 2013 Winnebago Vista 35F has 1-1/2 baths. The half bath has it's own black tank with a macerator pump to pump the waste to the dump. After opening the valves to dump and operating the pump I get barely a trickle of liquid and the pump shuts off after running about a minute. After a short time I can run the pump again with the same results. I'm assuming that the pump works but is overheating due to the lack of liquid flowing through it. I'm guessing I have a clog between the black tank and the pump. Any suggestions on clearing the clog that doesn't involve a really nasty mess on me and in the compartment where the pump is? Thanks in advance for your help! FIRST, I fail to be able to determine if you are having an issue with the waste leaving the toilet(the macerator pump) or the fresh water entering the toilet to allow a proper flush. (a fresh water pump or toilet valve issue). Would love to hear some real info. We changed our residence to SD last December. We have been trying to enroll in a Medicare part F Blue cross plan in SD to replace our BC plan in MI we currently have. NO LUCK. We have to either stay with the MI plan or accept a higher cost Humana plan or a AARP plan as BC requires proof of stick and brick residence. We will stay with the Michigan plan another year and see what shakes out. TedRe: Best toilet for full-timing use?Be careful of the macerator models. We have one in our new coach and it uses more water than the old gravity model we had in the prior coach that wored very well for us for 10 years. Also our new toilet has a float in the black tank and when it senses the tank is 'full'. You get a red LED and NO MORE flushes period! TedRe: Dunlop Tires 255/70/22.5I had Dunlop all around on my DutchStar for seven years before I traded it in. I was always very happy with them. The set of six bought back in about 2007 were about $1,000 less than Michelin at the time. Ted vegasfoodguy wrote: Anyone use these? Regarding quality, ride and wear. Thanks, Terry Re: A newer Jeep Grand Cherokee?I also have a 2014 Overland with adaptive cruise. It tows very easily. That adaptive cruise is WONDERFUL. The best feature since original cruise. Of course that has nothing to do with it's towing ease. I moved up 12 technology years from a 2002 to a 2014. WOW,, TED Cbones wrote: MaverickBBD wrote: Check the capacity of your tow equipment. They are heavier then one might think. Also if I remember correctly you want one without the smart cruise. I look that them but decided on the Cherokee Latitude instead. Why no adaptive cruise? I tow a 2014 Grand Cherokee w/tech package which includes adaptive cruise. Simple as can be to tow, put tranny in neutral hit neutral button on 4x4 selector, turn off engine and go. No fuses or electrical drains to worry about. BTW in my area the adaptive cruise which works to a full stop is fantastic in stop and go traffic. Lastly, the total weight is right at 5000 lbs, so make sure you have the proper setup.
