Wished I had explored it better but was trying to cover a lot of ground that day.Repair of laundry spigot hook upHoping someone here can offer tip, trick or advice on dealing with a leaky spigot. I have googled many searches for repair tips & parts to no avail. I have successfully done some minor residential bathroom & kitchen plumbing. Problem is water leaking from the washer hookups in my 5th wheel. I was able to remove the handle on top but could proceed no further without concern for causing more damage. Appears to be a rubbery cylinder inside, and looks like it got a blister and ruptured. Just looking for tips to take valve apart & repair. Wouldn't mind capping it as I do not use them, but I guess I have to be able to bleed them for winterizing. Re: Lowering the Pin Box TRIPLE8 wrote: Hi, I have the same pin box and also needed just a couple of inches for more clearance. did this 2 weeks ago, Towed it a couple hundred miles including some rough dirt roads and it worked well. I was also worried about the bolts below the angle iron but it does not appear to be an issue. Thanks Triple8! I very much appreciate the feedback from someone that has done the same thing!Re: Lowering the Pin Box Old-Biscuit wrote: Currently you have 6 bolts per side IF you 'lower' pin box are you still going to have 6 bolts per side? Any adjustment on hitch to 'raise' it? Biscuit I will still have the 6 bolts. wirenutz wrote: Are you just going to lower it 1 bolt hole down, it will be fine, but 2 bolt holes down and olny using 3 bolts per side, hmmm I wouldn't do that Just going to move it down 1 row & keep 6 bolts. I agree about not going down 2 rows & only using 3 bolts.Re: Lowering the Pin Box BB_TX wrote: Mine looks pretty much just like yours, angle braces and all, and it is mounted in the lower holes. Thanks BB, I'm going to go ahead and move it downRe: Lowering the Pin Box RCMAN46 wrote: How level is the trailer now? Dropping the pin box will make the trailer about 2 more inches nose high. The trailer sits pretty level, but I only have about 3-4 inches of clearance. I take it on some pretty nasty dirt roads and have on occasion had contact between the fiver and my truck bed. Got to get some more clearanceLowering the Pin BoxI previously asked about creating more space between Truck Bed and 5th Wheel. Some suggested that I should have more holes & be able to lower my Pin Box. I was finally able to get to my rig and look & see. As you see in the picture. If I lower it, I will have 2 bolts that are no longer supported by the 2 "L channel" supports. Is that a concern? Re: anyone have problems with new DRW and clearanceI just posted the same question over in the toy hauler forum. I have a 2011 GMC and I think I'm lucky if I have 4 inches of clearance (3 is probably more accurate). I have rubbed a few times while off road & I'm afraid I'll eventually do damage. I'm considering going to an autobody shop and see if they can alter the bed height from the hitch back. Also thought about going to a flat bed but I hate to get that extreme.Re: Bed clearance between truck & fifth wheelThanks D-Mac. Yep I got the Rand GPS, though I'm not really pleased with it's performance, so I run a Garmin too. Anyway, I'm not sure of the actual measured height only the advertised height of 13'6. I like the way the truck and fiver sit. I hate to change anything that will alter that. With all the folks on here that are so handy or pioneering, I thought for sure someone would have already trimmed down the bed walls at an autobody shop. I see the trucks that are flat bed fiver pullers and think that must be real nice when towing, but when you are not towing and need to haul stuff. A hybrid would sure be nice! Anyway I have lots of time before my next camper trip, so I hope to visit a body shop and run it by a pro. I'll definitely update this thread if I find that is an option.Re: Bed clearance between truck & fifth wheelThanks Folks, I appreciate the suggestions. As 720Deere pointed out the Springs are already above the axles. I will have to take another look at the pin box- I changed it out and put a Mor-ryde in. If I recall correctly there were 6 bolts & 6 holes per side so unless you give up 2 bolts per side there wasn't any adjustment. Sorry the rig is in storage & not immediately handy. That correct track item looks like an option to consider. I'm just a little reluctant to raise the height of this monster- I still duck when going under bridges as is or maybe cringe is a better word. Thanks for the links to the archives Y-guy, I'll give them a look too.
