Re: thinking of buying a Motorhome....looking for tips/hintsWhen we bought our first camper we looked at floor plans. We wanted a private bedroom and a private bathroom. We went to several dealers and to a couple of RV shows and walked through quite a few units. We finally found something and bought it. We kept a little pad in the kitchen drawer and when we found something that we wished we had, we wrote it down. 5 years later we took the list and the camper to a dealer and traded on something that, until now has been perfect for us. Good luck, we've made a lifetime and more of memories in our camper. Our vacation home is wherever we park it!Re: Slide Out IssuesJust got a call from CW Service advisor. They are not going to charge for the diagnosis and in fact they are not charging for a small job they did that I waws happy to pay for. So now all I need to do is find a shop that will work on a 20 year old slideout system. I've been referred to Timbuktu in Worcester. Not sure if I'll try to get it fixed now or in the spring.Re: Slide Out Issues wa8yxm wrote: What type of slide do you habve Giventhe age I knwo of 3 types Hydraulic Rack and pinion Cable operated From there odds are I'm going to know the issue list and there really are only 3 or 4 thigns that can go wrong. Its a HWH 310 hydraulic system. The problem was that the living room slide would not retract. A mechanic had to release the fluid and we manually pushed it in. The other slide and the jacks worked as usual.Slide Out IssuesLast camping trip we had a problem with the slide out not retracting. Had to get a mobile guy to come help us get it back in. He came with two people, spent 1.5 hours and charged me 100.00. His shop was booked and we aren't local so I thought I'd look closer to home. Brought it to Camping World in Uxbridge MA. They just called and said they spent over 2 hours tryi9ng to diagnose the issue and they are not "equipped" to handle this type of problem. I asked what was the problem and they said they were not sure, but they referred me to a shop in Worcester that can't take it until October 25. They charged me 400 to tell me they don't know what the problem is and they aren't equipped to work on slide outs. Well guys, you can see how old my camper is and itys a pretty good chance in the next 2 to 3 years I'll be shopping for a new one. NOT at a Camping World though. They should have told me from the get go that they were not equipped to work on the slide outRe: Customer ServiceWe did talk to the office. They indicated there were a lot of complaints but said the vendor is a 3rd party and they have no control over them. The office did say they were creating a log to bring up in their franchise meeting. Discover initiated a claim and gave temporary credit pending the outcome of their inquiry.Customer ServiceWe belong to Thousand Trails. Last week we ran up to the Moody Beach campground. We ordered cable service at the site from RESORT SERVICES, LLC. They took the money instantly. Service was never activated and despite 10 calls over three days we were never able to speak to anyone to report it. If you call their customer (dis) service number it plays rotten music for 5 minutes then announces they are too busy to take your call, leave a message and they'll call back. Must be really busy because despite leaving multiple messages never got a call. Also found theri web site and reported a tech issue on the "contact us" email address and they never responded either. Finally disputed the charge with Discover we'll see how that works out.Re: Any 80mph PLUS - class Aers still on here ?I tend to have a heavy foot, but I try very hard to go with the flow of traffic and expand the distance in front of me as speed increases. I'm not the fastest or the slowest - I'm going with the flow! I am limited to 80 MPH though, so if the flow is going faster than that I have to move out of the line.Been a whileIts been a while since I logged in. We've still got our class A and still enjoy it, but the old girl is in need of some TLC this year. Hope everyone is safe and healthy.Re: RV to power home tempI have an old 4500 watt generator and I put in a 6 circuit manual transfer switch. Furnace and smoke detectors are on one, microwave two, fridge three, garage four, part of master bedroom five, bathroom lights and fans and alarm system six.
