Towing Capacity
We just purchased a new 2017 Forest River Salem Hemisphere 299 RE. Dry weight=7,439 lbs, hitch weight=730 lbs. We own a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT 1/2 ton with a towing capacity of 8,000 lbs and a 3:31 rear axle. Do we need to move up to up a 3/4 ton with a towing capacity of 10,000-11,000? R.V dealer informed us, the trailer can be pulled with a 1/2 ton truck, when distribution and sway bar kit is installed. What is your opinion on this? My husband and I are wanting to buy a new travel trailer. We are ready to start looking for models, but would like your input. Our likes would be a queen bed in the back of the trailer and the bath also. If possible, 2 entrances, NO bunks. Our extra sleeping would be from the sofa and dining. The weight should not be more than 6000-7000 and the length 30-32 ft. We hope to start looking soon, but your input will be helpful to help us begin. Thank you. We have a Rockwood Roo that we took out camping. I will try to explain what happened. When we went to pull out the slide, the slide out channel broke? It is approx 5 ft. long that slides over a small channel. The Roo dealership where we usually does not carry it. Anyone know of somewhere in NW or northern Indiana that would take care of this? We are trying to find some new campgrounds that we have not visited. Most of the time we go to the state parks. Has anyone gone to Circle B Campground (private) Angola IN? Looking for fishing, boating, nice campsites with shade... Pokagon SP is near that, and we have gone there a few times. Just looking for some new campsites to try. I previously had some questions about replacing a bunk end due to water damage. We are on a waiting list to get that repaired by a local dealer. Now there is a water leak over the kitchen slide out. My husband just replaced the seal, but still has a little leak. The damage from the water leak penetrated the wall over the stove, sink, couch and caused the wallpaper to bubble up quite a bit. Our neighbor said he had the same thing with a different trailer and did the repair himself by taking off the paper, sanding down the bubbles (craters),sealing the area and recovered the wallpaper to somewhat match. Has anyone done this and had it look decent? We hate to throw more money into it considering the cost of the new bunk end door. Thanks for your help.1KViews0likes3Comments
