All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsGenerator RecommendationsWe've been dry camping a lot more and our poor old generator has seen the last of it's days. It was one we had before we bought our TT and it would recharge the batteries, but wouldn't run the AC. Now that we need to buy a new generator we'd like to buy one that runs our 13,500 BTU air conditioning but we're uncertain what level of generator we need to do that. Anyone have any recommendations?Re: Loft SpaceYes, there are floorplans without lofts and some that just have lofts as an option. But in our area (Portland Oregon) most of the trailers on the lots have lofts. Hence why I asked if I was to custom order one would I lose that $15k to $25k "sales price" from the ones offered on the lot. But on the other hand, if I look for one on the lot I might be limited to just 2 or 3 in stock out of the whole city and thus forced to choose on that criteria alone. But since we're also looking for under 40' and ideally under $60k that really narrows our options.Loft SpaceMy DH and I have a TT now but are looking to upgrade to a toyhauler with a garage. One of the problems I'm running into with finding just the right toyhauler is that the vast majority have the loft space that cuts into the head room in the garage. We don't have kids, so 90% of the time it's just the two of us and our dogs. I'm trying to find one without the loft but I don't want that to be the deciding factor and severally limit the available trailers. So I've got a series of questions that anyone willing to give advice on would be appreciated. How easy is it to order a trailer I like without the loft? Am I going to end up paying a lot more for that, since most often trailers on the lot are listed with the constant $15k to $25k "sales price" am I going to have to pay that to get one without the loft option? How easy is it to remove the loft after purchase? If I was to have someone take it out would that hurt the structural integrity of the trailer? Do you have any creative ways to use the loft space as storage? I've thought about storing linens, extra blankets, etc. But I'm considered of things getting lost back in the corner. Or maybe opening up the side into the garage.Re: New Batteries and No PowerThanks everyone. The cables did not get switched but dh wasn't aware of the fuse box under the tongue so in checking those he saw one looks melted. We've got power now. Just being careful till we get back to town tomorrow and can get it repaired.New Batteries and No PowerThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 28612370New Batteries and No PowerWe put new batteries on our travel trailer and now can't seem to get any power. Power works when the trailer is set up to the generator or house power. But otherwise none at all, and the refrigerator won't even turn to the propane. My husband said he checked and there's 12v coming off the batteries. But he's at a loss of why they aren't running the trailer.Re: ToyHaulers WITHOUT Walled Off GarageWhy I don't want a wall? There's only 2 of us and 1 dog. No kids. So we want to keep the trailer to the smaller end as we don't need that much space. Also, we use the trailer as much for eventing as we do for camping with toys. The smaller trailers with the wall feel more cramped. So at least half of the time we won't have any gas powered toys it seems a waste of space to break the trailer up into 3 rooms (Bedroom, living, garage. I'd rather have one large open space with tile flooring.ToyHaulers WITHOUT Walled Off GarageMy husband and I are looking at upgrading from our TT to a 5th Wheel Toyhauler (newer badass truck means newer badass trailer right?). So it's just the two of us, and our dogs. We don't have a lot of toys, YET. So we're looking for a modest/smaller sized toy hauler. We looked at a few and a lot of the haulers at the smaller end of size still have a wall along the back third of the trailer that separates the "garage" from the rest of the trailer and, for our use, unnecessarily makes the space less useable. Anyone know of good manufacturers who don't have that wall? So far only found Forest River. Anyone know how much structural integrity that wall adds? Is it possible to customize a trailer and take it out?5th Wheel Toy HaulerMy husband and I currently have a Nash TT we like, but as we use it more we've discussed (dreamed) about our next. We like the main bed space of 5th wheels but we also want to have the option to load up "toys" in the back. I've looked and there doesn't seem to be a lot of 5th Wheel Toy Hauler manufacturers out there. Is there something about 5th Wheels that make toy hauling less desirable?Re: Bozeman MT to Pasco WADon't mind the chilly or rain. Shoot, we take our trailer out Jan thru March in the Olympic peninsula and have stayed in it when below freezing temps. That's why we got the trailer and don't tent camp anymore. Furnace for the win! Thanks everyone. I think we may just take it to chance.
