LOL There are those who say "training" is the issue. Obviously, they don't have a Beagle! :B We have two!!! We inherited the second one from a sick friend...the two dogs are great friends, but a real.........challenge. ;) Difficult to train a nose with feet! :) All you can do is love em!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story} whimstock wrote: Richard, I do feel for you! This photo shows why we have not invested in a backyard fence. :B I have a beagle too, and boy how I can relate to this picture! Too funny!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story} Buz2b wrote: Angel in white wrote: Richard, how would one go about helping out the "Old Fella Burke Co. Animal Rescue"? In deference to the moderators and forum rules, it might be best to send a PM to Richard to find out what can be done to help. I'm sure many of us will be. I know Buz, I had already edited this post per Richard's request and did PM him.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard, how would one go about helping out the "Old Fella Burke Co. If he is weary of you, he would not appreciate you taking him from his "home" no matter how poor that home is. As long as he is welcome at the campground, I would let him stay in familiar surroundings. I WOULD, however, leave my name & phone number with the campground owner along with enough money to provide food on a regular basis. I would also try to bring him to a local vet or, if he was more comfortable with the campground owner, ask him to bring him to the vet and send me the bill. I'd be afraid that aking him home with me would be more for my comfort than his. Just my 2cents worth. new.granny@yahoo.com I'm not going there and please no one else either! Not going there either, but congrats on Suzie!!!!!!!! I also was secretly hoping you were her forever home!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I am so happy for Sophie and her new family, she struck a chord with me somehow. I also had a "chewer" and all it took was time, patience, and my bedside nightstand. :) But it was just a 5 month old teething stage, not a behavioral or anxiety problem, and I do so hope it all works well with Sophie, Daisy, (what a doll) and all the other puppies and strays you open your hearts and homes to.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Dixie Flyer I have been following your story, your heroic efforts to rescue, and all of your posts. I admire you greatly and wish so bad I could take a pup, or Sophie, but alas, I have a rescue dog that I did open my home and heart to, and I can't upset the happy balance we have created here with 2 dogs and 2 cats. We saved Angel almost from certain death due to parvo at 6 weeks of age, it was a horrendous time in our lives 3 years ago when my brother-in-law passed away at age 49 of prostate cancer, my husbands' only brother. The day after the funeral his teen-aged children walked into a Pet Smart to find Lauren a small aquatic animal to take to her dorm at Kent State, they instead brought home a "last-chance" puppy, the only one left from a litter and were told by the clerk if someone didn't take her, she would be sent back to the local shelter and put down. These kids just buried their Dad, no way they were going to let this little puppy be killed. But my sister-in-law was in no way ready for a puppy so they were in the process of finding a new home for her, she got very ill in the interim and my Mother-in-law rushed her to the local 24hr emergency service. She was diagnosed with parvo and the options were expensive IV's and treatments for 5 days or to just put her to sleep. I had never planned on having 3 dogs (my Cindy was still with us) but we were contacted by my sister-in-law who didn't know what to do in her grief. We paid all the bills and brought "Angel" home with us when she became healthy. I truly believe she saved us rather than the other way around. She did things to make us laugh every day during our grieving process. I think she was heaven sent, I really do. After 3 years, she is still the smartest, funniest, most tender-hearted dog we have ever had. God Bless you for everything you do, and I hope those adorable puppies and Sophie find loving homes soon!
