The wind can come up out of nowhere and your awning will flop over your trailer. I've seen it happen to a guy who wouldn't take the advice. Waterton is our most favourite National Park. We usually arrived around June 29th tho'. When Waterton Springs Campground was open( just north of Waterton Townsite) they had to tow a rig out to the highway because of the snow in June.Re: RVing with a HD Pick up in OntarioI have a 1 ton dually HD and a 5er. I also had a class Dz license, an AR license and then dropped down to a class G license when they wanted me to go for medicals etc. The class G covers what I haul with my HD. As for the plate sticker, I used to up the weight rating from May to October but I haven't done that in a few years now. I have never been given a break on my sticker cost by the gov't. I just renewed my sticker on line for $265. and it didn't take very long to get here. I tried online last year and I was told I couldn't do it. This year was different.Re: Getting propane tanks in and outMy oldest son gave us a propane fire pit and one of those trade 20 pound propane tanks. Apparently it cost a little bit over $30 to trade for a full one. So I bought a new 20 pounder from Costco for the pit. Now I have 2 tanks for it.Both tanks have been emptied using them with the fire pit so I went to Costco had the trade in one checked to see when it was good to and that is 2027, so I had it filled and the cost was a tad over $18 a piece.Re: Auxiliary Tank ComboI have a 50 gallon trax 4 transferflow tank in the back of my dually. I have a long box. It's computer controlled which means it fills the main tank when it uses a few gallons and there's a gauge which sits on the dash and it tells me the total in both tanks and how much fuel has been used and when the tank is pumping into the main tank. . Mine is diesel. I had it installed 11 years ago and it is working like new. It fits under my tonneau cover as well. No tool box. With the main tank holding 36 gallons, I have a total of 86 gallons of fuel.Re: Do you unhook for the night? When we go out west we take 7 days to do it. We're not in s hurry. When we stop for the night I fuel up first with the 5er attached and then go to the campground where we will stay at for the night. The 5er doesn't get unhitched and the 3 slides are opened until it's time to go to bed.I just make sure the 5er is level. The bedroom slide remains open for the night. In the morning we get cleaned up, the wife make sandwiches for the road and we're off for another day of travelling. We can use the 5er without having to open the slides if we need to. It's a 2009 Cedar Creek. I always unplug from my truck for the night.Re: black tank not venting?I was rinsing the black tank when I decided to go into the 5er for something. As I walked around the side of the 5er I noticed water leaking over my basement storage door. I ran back and turned off the water to the black tank and pulled the dump handle. The black water dump hose then jumped up into the air and proceeded to dump all over me. So the moral of the story is, yes pressure can build up. The water leaking over the basement storage door was coming from the toilet. Just slowly leaking over the top of the toilet bowl. Glad I didn't try to flush the toilet. I have never left the side of the trailer while flushing the black tank since then.Re: Potable Water TransportationI found then at Canadian Tire- https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/reese-towpower-professional-series-trailer-wiring-7-way-blade-to-4-or-5-flat-adaptor-with-12v-0406843p.htmlRe: Potable Water TransportationCheck out Princess Auto. In their little Magazine I got yesterday I see some water bladders that they sell. I have 2 water bladders that I use when boondocking. Both are 50 gallons U.S. I pump from the bed of my truck into the 5er.I plug the pump into the 7 pin receptacle at the back of the truck. I bought the adapter at Princess Auto a few years back and I don't see them advertised on their website now.Re: Step to reach hitch pinI used to have a step that is put on the rear wheel. All metal. I have a dually and while reaching for something in the bed I put my knee onto the fender and when I put my weight on the fender, I put a ding in it. It's still there and I can see it every time I look in the driver's mirror. My 2 step has never given out on me when leaning over the fender. I just used it yesterday to fill my aux diesel tank. Fuel is pretty expensive right now and going up in price.Re: Step to reach hitch pinI use a 2 step folding plastic ladder. I stand it beside the rear wheel and reach over to the handle to lock it in place or unlock it. When travelling I put it on the floor in the back seat. When not travelling it goes into the bed of the truck. I also use it when fueling up. I have a 50 gallon aux fuel tank right behind the cab of the truck. I'm 230 lbs and it support this old body.
