I soak them in an ice water brine for at least 24 hours. Then I stuff in and cook it indirect in the weber at about 300 degrees. I use Mesquite Lump Charcoal and one piece of flavor wood smoking all the time like a chunk of apple or pecan wood. You should have a tow vehicle that is able to address any needs or situations that pop up as you are traveling and I don't see that ability with your current rig.But if you live close to a campground and it's a flat drive to get there you could prolly get away with it. Re: Norcold Model 611 Fridge problem The newer fridges are much more sophisticated than the units I worked on when I worked for our family RV shop. I've not read up on how the current thermostats commands the flame to kick on and off, and I'm not able to comment on how to check out the operation and confirmation that the 'stat is good. Back then it was simple. But these few things are still valid: 1. Check gas pressure, 2. Make sure the burner and jet are clean and you have a good flame, 3. The flu must be clean and clear so heat can draw up and get a good draft 4. Make sure that the roof vent is clear. Re: House battery drain The first thing to do is see if you accidently pulled the brake-break-away cable. Nothing is easier to do than that and nothing kills a battery bank faster than that. Two times I flattened my battery bank and once was cause of the break-away cable and the other was becuase I left a light on in the pass thru. Re: Castle Rock If I bought a new coach and it came with Chinese tires, I think I'd try and get a few miles out of them, but not without watching them very very closely. I'd have a TPMS installed and keep a close eye on the tire pressure and your speed going down the interstate.........and I'd be watching the outdoor temps that you're towing in. A 105 degree day heading down Hiway 40 at 65-70 mph could unwind one of those tires............so I guess I'm saying, I'd want to get my moneys worth out of them, but I'd be on pins and needles the whole time. Re: Propane smell at furnace exhaust port Mine was leaking where the copper line tied into the furnace. And like mentioned above use a water solution with dishwashing liquid in it.....like a cup of water to 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Low pressure leaks sometimes take a bit to present themselves thru the soapy solution, but if it's leaking it will appearn. Re: New to Solar. Conect directly to battery ????The most important thing about solar is to be flexible with your listening.....There are those that say, "you're wasting time not having tilting panels".......Or, here's an old favorite"PWM controllers vs MPPT controllers, PWM's are useless".........If you're buying new, I fully recommend a MPPT. If you want to and have the coin, tilting panels will aways give you the most harvest. But I've had panels screwed to the roof and a PWM charging four six volt batteries for 6 years and never want for power and never need the emergency genny I have on board. I think the most important thing is to have the controller as close to the batteries as possible to minimize charge voltage loss.Re: Recommendations for solar charge/controllerI think you need to get the spec's on the panel output to size the controller correctly. In my case, my panels provide just a bit more than 8 amps(best case), time three panels equals around 24v +/- a bit so I have a thirty amp controller. I think Victron is the top of the line and if you can afford it that's the way to go. If not, there's a reason, and I'd walk away from it. The year & mileage qualify it to be one, and in being so it would have a CPO warranty, which in many cases, is far superior to the original factory warranty. I'd check out that fact and make my decision accordingly. One question: Would you walk on to any car lot at random and ask the salesman for the "back story on a vehicle,,,,,and trust the answer to be true? I'm with you all the way on this. Good and bad in all camps, everywhere....even here! And everything you say makes sense regarding the CPO info. Thanks!
