Spartan isn't sure, unfortunately, even though the frame is rated at 10k.Re: Weight Distribution Hitch? Your problem is NOT the rated capacity of the hitch. Well, really it is, you are towing MORE weight than the hitch is capable of. The REAL problem is, the Hitch and Chassis frame mount. are rated for 5k not 10k. IF the Spartan frame mount is rated at 10k then you need to purchase a 10k hitch. FYI, Tiffin has had a recall out for the past 6 or 7 years for the morons that towed grater than the 5k rated hitch and Tiffin had a few that came/broke loose. Tiffin investigated the few failures and found out that in every failure the customer pulled greater than 5k. Regardless, Tiffin sent out a Recall and installed beefed up bolts and steel reinforcement plates. Also, Newmar did have a recall years ago for a failure of certain Hidden Hitches installed on Newmar Motorhomes. Doug Thanks Doug. My conversation with Spartan was essentially that the frame is rated for 10,000 lb towing. The hitch is only 5k, for certain; but you are suggesting that the plates on which it is mounted are only 5k? That I can't answer. So, if I get a bigger hitch, then I may need more beefed up plates it sounds like...Re: Weight Distribution Hitch? NewmarI have a tongue weight of 500lb on the Dutch Star, I believe (5000 tow capacity hitch). We are pulling a horse trailer, so our load will be around 6000lb). I have a weight distribution hitch, so am trying to figure out if this will work for the extra capacity.Dutch Star 2000 radio fuseHi there. Just replacing the stereo on my motorhome. I seem to have blown a fuse because there's no power now to the 12v wire (it was working before). I opened up the hood where there are three fuse boxes. In the radio slot, there is actually no fuse, so that's not where the radio is tied in. I've tested every fuse, but can't find one that's blown and can't find any other place where this dawgone fuse might be (unless it's a modular fuse of some kind) Any suggestions? Is there another place to find the radio fuse?Weight Distribution Hitch? NewmarI have a 2000 Dutch Star with a 5000lb hitch. Can a weight distribution hitch be used on this with its airbags? Would the airbags not fight the attempt to raise the back end?Re: Blower Fan on Dutch Star dougrainer wrote: The foil duct is connected to a Black ABS type tube. Inside that tube is the 12 volt fan. It is usually mounted on the sidewall of the drivers side storage almost to the roof of the storage. There IS a fuse for that separate fan. The fuse is located on top/side of the Furnace case. Accessed by removing the inside louvered Wood access door in front of the furnace in the hallway. There will be 2 ATC fuse holders. One is for that fan. Can't remember what the other is for, but I believe it is a separate fuse going to the furnace Tstat output going to the AC control board. Some older models you have to remove the OUTSIDE furnace door to get easier access to those 2 fuse holders. Newmar changed the access to the inside to make it easier after complaints. Doug Hi Doug. Thanks for this thorough reply. It helped me locate the fan. On my 2000 Dutch Star, it's located on the sidewall of the storage bay beside the water access bay. It's located behind a plastic shield where the foil duct runs. It's essentially an "inline" fan inside, or connected to, the foil duct. Now, I started the furnace and listened and felt for anything going on in that 12v fan. Nada. It's completely silent. The two fuses beneath the fridge also look good. So, bad fan motor?Re: Replace RV headlamps Johno02 wrote: Here is a link to the company I used to replace mine. RV Headlights Is yours a Dutch Star as well? Mine are not perfectly rectangular. They have an angle at the end.Re: Replace RV headlamps GordonThree wrote: Don't fall for the brighter is safer lie either. Flooding everything in front of the RV with light adds extra information to process and also diminishing response from the rod receptors in your eyes responsible for night vision. Do you have a fancy gps, or always on phone screen, maybe the dash lights set for maximum brightness or camera monitor always on? All of these diminish visibility at night by interfering with rod receptors. Just something else to consider. Well, at this point, it's dangerous driving in the dark.
