The big reason for it vs gasoline is convenience and availability to run the insulin fridge, especially if I am not home and they have the need. Yet another power outage in the neighborhood while not home. This is getting old, fast. JimRe: Sometimes small systems are plentyMy Visio draws less MSW AC power than its spec as well. Works really well from a small inverter. JimRe: Not Almot's Toasted Cheese Sandwich westend wrote: I think the sandwich testing method needs some refinement. We don't know what type of bread or cheese were used, whether the cheese was allowed to melt out of the bead's interior and flow down onto the outside crust, or what ambient temperatures were at time of construction. Also, crumb wiping time needs to be defined, was it a quick brush with a napkin or was the consumer primping for excessive minutes across the face. I'm thinking this is where MPPT could have saved the day for green sangie process. Anyway, thanks for posting, lets us newbs know that short MW use is possible. x2 :)Natural gas addition to gensetAnyone know a good source for dual fuel or tri fuel converted gensets? I am more concerned with a quality conversion than which brand, model or quietness of the genset. Price is always a concern of course. My application will be power outage use to run a garage fridge with an RV style transfer switch, from natural gas as a fuel source. Alternate use would be to run the camper 30 amp service in the event of a hurricane evacuation. 3000 watts is the minimum I would be looking at. Larger would run more things which is nice up until the point it is o big nd heavy it is hard to move around even on wheels. JimRe: Deep Cycle BatteriesTry a drive to see of you can start them charging back up. It will take days plugged in to get back to full charge.Re: Magnum Remote & Trimetric RV 2025 install SCVJeff wrote: Actually lemme backup on that (just looked).. UTP is what I did on my solar. The stock Magnum control is flat telco wire into an RJ-11. So that's REALLY a No-no Yeah that flat line "silver satin" stinks for noise rejection. It couples to about everything. JimRe: Sometimes small systems are plentyIt's funny the variety of energy systems we have based partly on history and partly on energy density in storage. An all 12v genset and running many systems there would be interesting too, but really it would work better if the systems that need heat had a propane option, including propane powered AC. Redundancy in the event of a failure is good, but vehicle fuel, propane, AC and DC seems to be a bit much. A CNG vehicle along with CNG systems would start to make more sense. Or a DC Genset. Or an AC only electrical system with multiple ways to generate AC such as a genset and an inverter. Me, I'd rather have fewer types of systems, and more devices that run on as many of the systems as possible. The idea of 4 systems and too many devices that only run on 1 or 2 just bugs me. But the economics and availability of AC only devices (gensets, microwaves, air conditioning, some fridges, some water heaters) means it is hard to make a case not to optimize around them. JimRe: Trail Lite B+ 235s - Trap door in floor for battery access?Or go AGMs. JimRe: clarification on generstorsNothing wrong with running the genset to run AC. It is very common here. But do consider fuel prices and genset maintenance costs vs a campground with shore power. The campground can be the less expensive answer, if it suits your tastes and needs. Depending on the altitude where you camp, you will be fine or may have an issue restarting a warm AC compressor. Jim
