Five gallon bucket filled half way with water, cover water with a couple handful's of sunflower seeds. Give them a little ramp to go up, usually a trail of seeds. They dive in for the seeds not seeing the water and drown. This really works. I have caught many with this method. Tried this - worked very well - within 15 minutes had 2 chipmunks.I sure felt bad about having to do this, but all their tunnels were undermining our interlock walkway causing the bricks to sink in various spots. It is a lot of work lifting bricks in those areas, adding crushed limestone, getting the bricks back in, levelling, tamping, adding polymer sand - you get it. We have had to do this 2X this year already and it is still only May.Re: Getting Hitched In A HurryWe pay the price and take our vehicles to our trusted RV dealer who does the install. Not the cheapest way to go, but has always been done correctly with no problems.Re: Chipmunks K Charles wrote: Squirrels will get rid of chipmunks, get a squirrel. I don't believe that. We have many squirrels - often 8 or 10 at a time + several chipmunks. The squirrels chase the chipmunks away from food (usually seed that has dropped from the bird feeder) but that is about all that happens. They live in harmony. WRT moth balls as a repellent - that has not worked at our house. Two weeks ago I put mothballs about every 3 inches along our fence line to try and control the number of squirrels - made no difference. I also dropped 2 or 3 mothballs down the many chipmunks holes in our yard. Next day, the mothballs were lying in the grass. Still working on plan C.Re: Car breaks down on a trip. What to do with your camper? We had problems with our Ford truck/Lance camper in Ohio when we were returning from spending a winter in Texas. We were able to limp to a Ford dealer who were excellent to deal with. Of course this happened on a Sat. am when the shop was closed. The dealership allowed us to stay in the camper in their parking lot and put the truck in the garage. We were provided with electricity and water + they rented a vehicle for us so that we could travel around the area and also store the stuff we kept in the truck. Security came and checked on us regularly and always asked if we needed anything. It turned out a spark plug had blown through the engine and it took a couple of days before we could continue home to Ontario. A bad situation was made bearable thanks to the kindness of the service mgr. at the dealership.Re: Bent frame Newbieatcamping wrote: Due to the fact they haven’t contacted a insurance company yet.....I’m doubting the camper was insured X2Re: Bent frameIf it were me, I would let the insurance company take care of it - isn't damage like this why we carry insurance ? ? ? I would advocate for a replacement - heck with chancing a costly repair that may or not work. I would also put in a claim for the damaged bicycles if they were attached to trailer at time of damage.Re: The camping industry is going to be hit hardIn our area, one of the local RV dealers is allowing nursing staff to live in units instead of chancing taking the virus home to their family. That is very considerate and generous. I would be leery of buying from that dealer in the future - who knows what be lurking in those trailers.Re: What's happening with your summer gig?Two month long summer trip cancelled. Hope to do a couple of one weekers late summer - hoping all will be better by then.Re: Interstate and other roadside Rest Areas - Open or Closed?Saw on the TV this morning that truckers are experiencing difficulty getting food, also bathrooms and shower facilities. Many truck stops are closed. I think this is mostly in the North East and into Canada. Friends who just drove north from Florida to NYS reported that rest areas were so busy there was no room for RV's so they started going to Cracker Barrel parking lots. Restaurant was closed so lots of parking for RV's. I think the increase in traffic was due to Spring Break traffic.Re: Spring has sprung....We're in Southern Ontario and the hibernating chipmunks have awoken and are busy digging lots of holes/tunnels in our yard. Birds are starting to sing and spring bulbs should be visible any day now. Looking forward to camping and hoping this virus issue eases off and hat campgrounds open. It is not looking too promising just now.
