But nearly all have the front / rear / tag weight capability. I make a first weight run of the total rig and then do it again with one side off of the scale. Simple subtraction will get the weight for the wheels of the side that was not on the scale.Re: Seat lift installed in RVOl' - I do not know about the other product, but the install in my rig was 4 drilled holes thru the RV wall side for each of two mounting brackets. Inside, to the left of the door are two black steel squares with brass head bolt covers. If I decide to remove the lift, it would be a simple exterior fibreglass repair and repaint, but the interior holes would need some sort of new wall covering to hide the eight holes.Re: Seat lift installed in RVThree years ago my co-pilot could no longer climb the steps into our rig, so I did some searching and found a lower cost solution in this product: http://www.mobile-lifts.com/motorhome-and-rv-lifts/ or Click Link It arrived in two parcels and only took about a 1/2 day to install - the most time consuming was running power to it. We too were delighted to again have the ability to use the RV together. Total cost was less than $2K. N.B. As the lift operates on the outside wall, I needed to build (from 3/4 plywood and "L" Aluminum pieces) a removable flat panel to fit over the inside entry steps - like the one in the picture). It also adds that bit of floor space so one does not unexpectedly step into the stepwell.I feel like a newby!!!I'm posting here after more than 15 years of (mostly) enjoyable 'camping' in everything from a tent to my current RV since I just made a blunder when I already knew better. The rig (in my sig) has been a good and enjoyable vehicle for many years. Unfortunately the love of my life and co-pilot passed to be with Jesus and the Angels late last year. The rig sat in the storage lot of the six months prior and the recent 5 months - almost a year! In that time, only once did I go to the lot and fire it up to circulate fluids and then drive it 4 miles to turn the tires - plus a single trip of a day each way to visit friends. (and for that recent trip, I had to use the generator to charge the batteries to get the engine started.) That seemed to work out OK. BUT...the dual 12v AGM batteries turned out to be dead when I tried to get going this past weekend. They would charge using the generator, but not hold it. Long story short and memory 'joggled' - AGM batteries self discharge. They must be maintained on a trickle charger (not possible at my remote lot) or discharged and re-charged at least every 60 days - every 30 days is better. So...yep, I have two new AGM batteries in the rig - an expensive lesson I will not soon forget.Re: Surge/voltage protectorsMine (Progressive - Hard Wired)is over 10 years since installation. It has saved me from untold grief several times. I'm not planning to replace it.Re: Best Gift EverMy daughter gave me a 'T' shirt with 4 lines: I Don't Want To I Don't Have To You Can't Make Me I'm RETIRED!!After all these years...It Happened to me!!I have been driving Class "A" rigs since 1997. Been a Good Sam Member almost that long. Good Sam has saved my bacon on several past breakdowns and this time when I experienced my first real 'accident', they did everything by the book and once again I am happy with my annual membership. My Accident?? I am driving on the Interstate Highway at about 58-60 MPH in the right lane - I usually stay at 60 thereabouts except if I need to pass a slower vehicle. So there I am, enjoying the drive, but now alone since the love of my life and co-pilot went to be with Jesus and the Angels 9 weeks ago - trying to keep a positive outlook and attitude. Then...BANG!!! I look-up to the rear monitor and I see my toad drifting away and back! Thanks goodness for safety cables!! I slowly stop to the shoulder and note another car pulling off behind me. I get out to see what had happened - fearing I had caused some problem - but NO!! The other driver drove right into the back of my toad at about 70 MPH - the speed limit there. Back of the toad is pushed-in and it is then pushed into the back of the MoHo - breaking the Aladdin towbar at the ball and also breaking the tow hitch by bending it up and into the back of the rig. No one hurt, but what an unexpected incident!! The toad is at a dealer repair shop 200 miles from home. The rig is drivable and I did make it home - and now I must go through the paperwork to get everything fixed back the way it was. The other driver was cited by the state trooper for 'careless operation', so I hope the insurance claim will not be difficult. Sometimes, 'stuff' just happens!!Re: 2 full baths now?We only have one - and most times it works out fine. But there have been times when she (who went to be with Jesus and the Angels on Nov. 10, 2016 and left me without a co-pilot / navigator) was in there and I really needed the place for a few seconds!! I made it to the Park Restrooms just in-time - but I am sure I looked silly running there in my bathrobe!! Now...the one holer is just fine.Re: Surge Protector?I drive an 'A', not a TC, but my Progressive Industries EMC has saved my bacon on several occasions. In one campground, the pedestal had been wired bas ackwards! And when my on-board generator voltage regulator failed and the generator was putting out 150volts, the EMC save all of the electrical items in the rig. So..I recommend that you MUST have a means to protect your rig and its electrical contents.Re: Trip Planning and GPS SoftwareTimandSusan, I too have used Street Atlas for many years (since 2004 and I have all of the upgrade disks to 2015). I think it is the best product available. I plan an RV trip on my portable PC in the comfort of home and then place the PC on the holder in the RV, plug in the GPS & Speaker connections (I use iTunes on the PC to play music), plug in the power and I'm ready to go. Since there is no longer an update to Street Atlas, I purchased a Garmin for the RV and loaded BaseCamp (their 'trip planning' software) on my PC. BaseCamp (in my opinion) is difficult to use and is rudimentary compared to Street Atlas. S0 I sent an email to Garmin regarding their combining with Street Atlas and the reply for their technical staff was disappointing - to say the least. In a nutshell, their advice is to abandon Street Atlas and learn the Garmin way. They did indicate that if I wish to continue to use Street Atlas for planning, I could export the plan file as a ".gpx" file and then import that file to BaseCamp to complete the planning and transfer to the Garmin GPS unit. What a MESS!! The Garmin RV GPS will not connect to the PC for display - which means my map is now 5 inches instead of 17 inches!! 5 inches is OK in for a driver in a car with the unit close, but in my RV, the display is quite a distance away!! The Garmin unit is not cheap! and I'm not sure of a good way forward to be able to plan at home and then easily move the plan to the rig for the actual trip. Right now, I am planning to keep on using Street Atlas as in the past and hope that there may be sufficient negative feedback to Garmin that they will integrate Street Atlas capabilities with Garmin GPS and be able to present the trip progress on a portable PC. They have all of the software and it is a matter of getting them to 'talk' to one another. (Garmin maps are updated more frequently and in that regard are somewhat better than the Street Atlas. I use a Garmin unit in my car/SUV)
