Since that Brand, Keystone Laredo was not sold anywhere near our area of the state I could not pass up the opportunity to actually physically go see it inside and out. I was upfront with the dealer that I was not buying that day and was researching. He was very nice but just told me I could look at anything open. Bottom line, I spent 30 minutes in that camper and fell in love with it. I called hubby and said this floor plan is our next camper. I was excited even though I knew I would have to wait a few more years. Surprise! Hubby called me right back and said get a quote, that floor plan may not exist in a few years. Salesman did not want to waste time with me. He did take my email address to send me a quote. 2 weeks later still had not heard from him. Meantime I found another dealer within 50 miles of him, they had the exact floor plan.Hubby and I made a day trip there, spent an hour with the camper and purchased it. I did finally get a quote from the 1st dealership but it was to late. As it happens, we also got our camper cheaper anyway. We still have that camper. The point is, sometimes a trip to just look at anything is just research. Sometimes it can turn into a purchase.Re: MatthewCurrently hunkered down in effingham county in GA. Trees down in the area. We took the camper and truck to another area without trees. The wind gust here up to 60 mph. Surprisingly, although our lights have blinked a lot, we still so far have power at 11pm. Others not so lucky. There are curfews in force in this country find surrounding areas. There is at least one tree down on I-16 near Pooler Ga. Our strongest winds will be until about 2 to 4 am. Kinda scary with the bumps on the house. Hopefully our fifth wheel and Brand new truck will be ok, but they are just things. People are more important. Prayers for everyone in MTthew's path and for families already affected by this storm.Re: Update: New truck/ 5th wheel height issueYes, they ordered the heavier duty bolts. Good to know someone else did this and it worked out fine. This was the most cost effective solution. We really did not want to modify a new and costly truck. The camper is only 1 1/2 " taller. Thanks for the reply.Update: New truck/ 5th wheel height issueLast month I asked for help regarding the new truck (2016 Dodge Ram 2500 - 2x4 Hemi) sitting 3" higher than the old 2003- 2500 Dodge. The problem was we no longer had the 6" clearance needed for proper hookup. Our 2011 Laredo fifth wheel camper has a pin weight of 1800 pounds. When hooked up, the '03 truck with leaf springs dropped the height about 1". The 2016 truck with coil springs drops it about 2 1/2". That still left it about 1 1/2 inches high. I hooked up, ( we are still using our original Reese hitch- had new rails installed in New truck), found a level spot and used a couple of 2x8's it looked good and level. My trailer axles are under the leaf springs which made it simpler. I took my fifth wheel to Walker Welding & Trailor in Pooler, Ga, off I-95. They ordered the longer U-bolts and installed a 1 1/2 " iron bar between the leaf spring and axle raising the trailer. It was ready to take home in just a few days. The ride home -less than an hour- was smooth. We now have the 6" clearance we needed with this taller truck. Thank you again for your help. Will be camping soon.Re: Have 3 inch clerance/new truck/ need 6 for level fiverI am the original poster. Thank you to all those who responded in a helpful manner and so quickly. My hubby asked me to try to find information on this forum while he was on the phone with multiple places to get the best information he could. We were stressed and nearly ready to return the truck. A lot has changed in the 13 years since we last purchased our old one and of course none of this was an issue then. We have decided to follow the consensus to hitch up to the camper and go from there as outlined by helpful posters. We cannot do it until Tuesday when the derails for the existing Reese is installed. I will updAte you all when we find our best resolution. By the way, I have used this forum for many years and do know about and use the SEARCH button. You have to be pretty specific to find what you are looking for, as I am no mechanic, I did the best I could. Again thAnk you for your responses. They helped relive the pressure on us.Have 3 inch clerance/new truck/ need 6 for level fiverJust picked up the new dodge ram 2500 we ordered. The height of the bed rails is 3" higher from the ground than the old truck. The truck is backed under the fifth wheel camper. Not hitched and there is only a 3" clearance. Only 1800/2000 lb pin weight. Our old truck (2003 Dodge 2500) had the 6" clearance and only settled 1" or so when hitched. We need to get to a 6" clearance but still keep the fifth wheel camper level. Do we compress the springs to the truck, will that be enough to lower the bed of the truck? From the vround We have a Reese hitch that is 13 years old but have had no problems with. Any and all advice appreciated including what type of place or person to take it to.New truck-bed to high for fiver hitch-advice pleaseJust picked up our new 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi. Was told by the dealership when we ordered it that it was the same height (the bed) as our 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 hemi. It is actually about 3 inches taller. This puts the fifth wheel camper to close to the sides of the truck. ( a clearance of only about 3 inches. Any advice would be appreciated.Buying new truck, hitch questionWill be buying a Dodge Ram 2500. Do the factory holes in the bed fit a Reese hitch? Saw a demo truck, holes looked a little wide apart. Thanks for your help.Bonnaroo festival Manchester TN Traffic?Hubby & I must go through TN to get home from vacation. Will be going through via I-24 East on Fri June 13. Family member that lives in TN says the Bonaroo Music & Arts festival traffic is brutal between Nashville TN and Manchester during that time. Anybody experience this first hand? We already know Nashville can be a pain if you don't go through it at the right time on a regular day. It also took us nearly one hour to go 4 miles at the KY/IL state line due to roadwork on the Paducah bridge coming up. Any info helpful. Thanks.Bonnaroo festival Manchester TN Traffic? This topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27763189
