I carry a 4 foot level with me and i place that on the floor in the trailer from side to side...over time, you can tell how much correction you need to make level. i also check at the a-frame right by the front wall as well as in the rear. once i figure what is needed, i pull my rig forward a few feet, get my levels out and stack them up. i have a slide out, so i keep that in mind and compensate for it. i've never been on a site that i've had to use more than probably 3 courses of levelers high. once i'm done my trailer is always inside the lines on the level usually about as level as can be.replacing freshwater tank drain cocki have a 2008 keystone springdale 267bhssr TT. It has a 60 gal freshwater tank. The drain cock for it is located on the bottom of the tank and the lever broke off; it's a plastic valve. I can gently turn it open with pliers right now, but need to replace it. I am fairly sure that it is threaded, as it doesn't appear to have a flange or needing a barbed end as there is no hose that would be going to it. Seeing as my dealer is two hours away, i am more than capable to do the repair, but don't want to do anything detrimental to the water tank. Would this valve be threaded and just need to loosened and turned out and a new on wrapped in teflon and screwed back into place? or would the one there be put in place with silicone? i'm thinking this job is easier than i am making it out to be, just that where i live, we are limited to supplies or resources. any input would be appreciated. just want reassurance that this is how to replace this valve.Re: Graphics......my graphics have recently started cracking and peeling a bit... i called keystone and they asked me to take a few pictures, email then to them...and a few weeks later, i had replacement graphics for my entire trailer...however, i have yet to tackle the job of replacing them.Re: What would you do? 24’ or 28’?I would suggest the bigger one...with a super slide. We bought our first TT..which was 26 foot, but no slide out and we had just us and a large dog, which was cramped...then came the first baby...even more cramped...especially when you wish to use a pack and play...so off to the lot we went to trade up. We stayed within the rough length, moved up to a 28 footer, but with a large slide-out. Now we have 2 dogs and two kids and it's comfortable. for while we had both a large dog kennel and a pack and play and there was still room. we got lucky and actually got more on trade than we owed from our first trailer. but i think that's a huge rarity. Also...dump the ford and get a dodge ;)Re: travel trailer brakeshad about 10 minutes of free time today...long enough to hook the cord to the truck and check a couple quick things...the brake lights do come on on both the truck and trailer when the truck brakes are applied. When the truck brakes are applied, I can't hear any hum near any of the 4 wheels, however when the slide lever is applied on the brake controller itself, i can hear the hum on 3 of the 4 tires, the two on the curb side and the rear of the other side, and nothing or very slight on the one on the front tire of the other side. The blades and the slots on the plug and the truck are all clean and clear...I also pulled the break away switch and didn't hear any pulsing at the tires. hoping to get a bit of time tomorrow or friday to start pulling tires and visually inspecting the brakes...on vacation so tinker time is hard to come by when it's meant to be family time. any other thoughts and leads would be appreciated...thank you to the two that have posted so far...helpful info so far. i like the idea of the rewired brakesRe: Connecting two power cords together?are you talking rv extension cords, or two of the main cables that you would hook your rig to the power pole with? just buy a a couple male and a couple female ends and wire them up to the cable..if it's just the wire that you have. that way you will have to extension cords or the ablity to connect them up.travel trailer brakesHey all...Just got home from an enjoyable 4th of july trip. all relaxed for the second part of my vacation..lol Anyway, i'm having some trouble with the brakes on my trailer and am looking for a starting place or maybe folks that have had similar issues. I have had a braking issue once before...exact specifics i don't recall...but similar i think. I have a 2008 keystone springdale 267bhssr. I went to set my brake controller up...it's a tekonsha voyager. well i leveled it out... and when i depressed the truck brake, the indicator light never left green...the lightest setting of the brakes. normally it's a light shade of orange. when setting the controller you start with it at red..strongest setting and turn the dial till you hit an orangish green...or your preference. well it never went beyond green, however the slide lever allowed me to apply the trailer brakes and they engaged. I guess am i looking at just needing to adjust the brakes or is it most likely a deeper issue? the problem before was that a wire had chaffed inside the axle tube and was grounding out. another note, when the truck brakes are engaged..there is no hum or noise from the trailer brakes, but when the slide lever is engaged the magnets will hum. and my brakes have always hummed before when the truck brakes are applied. any thoughts, starting points to trouble shoot or any info would be greatly appreciated. we just got back yesterday, so i haven't had a chance to dive in to much yet. thanks...and happy campingRe: Taking my camper in for service.when i recently brought my trailer in for some service...they hooked up a battery pack to my battery while they worked on it...like one of those portable packs that you would jump start a car with
