All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsTrip Planning Software/ServiceI would like to get a recommendation on trip planning software or service that can be loaded on an Android phone or Window Tablet. I see that Allstays is highly recommended but seems to be available for iphones or Apple tablets only. I saw another for Android called RV Wizard???? I think that was it. Any thoughts on this software/service? Interested in bridge height and grades on passes. Also a good database on Campgrounds. Any ideas?Cougar Owners ManualJust bought a used 2015 Keystone Cougar 29RLi. The person that I bought it from gave me the package of docs that he got when he bought it new. Included is a "Keystone Owners Manual". In reviewing the booklet, I see that it is not specific in any manner on any item in the trailer. It is so generic that it is really worthless. Is there a real Owners Manual or Service Manual that I can buy that will cover some details? What I was looking for in the manual was info on the Power Converter WFCO that I have in the unit. Also I'm interested in information on the slides and Lippert Landing / Leveling Jack system. Other systems in the RV seem to have their own Manual and they are pretty complete as one would expect. But the Keystone Owners Manual only identifies things that exist in the unit but nothing that would provide specifics. Anybody else have this issue?Re: Battery bank/Converter UpgradeI see, thanks.Re: Battery bank/Converter UpgradeNot sure about disconnecting the 120V at the WFCO Control/Distribution Panel. 120Vac (from shore / generator power) is needed for all the circuit breakers and individual 120Vac circuits in the trailer. How does that work without the 120Vac? But the real question of whether two chargers can be connected to a bank supplying different voltages is ok, Thanks.Battery bank/Converter UpgradeJust bought a used 2015 Cougar 5th wheel. Going through it now to see what all needs attention / fixing / maintenance. I have a question about upgrading the battery bank and installing a standalone Progressive Dynamics 9260 Intelli-power converter/charger. I'm not sure what to do with the existing battery/charging circuit coming from the existing WFCO 55Amp converter/charger to the batteries. This circuit must be two-way in that it delivers a charge to the batteries and it provides 12Vdc from the batteries back to the 12Vdc fuse panel in the existing WFCO converter when shore power or a generator is not connected. This is correct, right? So when the new Intelli-power converter is installed remotely at the batteries, can both the existing and new converter/chargers be connected to the batteries at the same time? One would be delivering 13.6Vdc (single stage charging) and the other delivering various voltages from float to Bulk (4 stages of charging)? Obviously the new Intelli-power converter/charger would need to have a new 120Vac with duplex receptacle ran or extended to the battery compartment from an existing circuit or breaker so that it can be plugged in and functional when shore power or generator is connected. Also, the existing charging circuit from the existing WFCO converter charger uses maybe 10 gauge cables. Would these need to be increased in gauge? Distance from the existing WFCO distribution panel to the forward compartment where the new batteries will be installed is about 12-13 feet. Actual wire length would be longer, say less than 20 feet. Thanks for you help.Winnebago Class A Roof ConstructionDoes anyone know how the roof/ceiling of a Winnebago Brave (older - '95) is constructed? I believe that the actual roof is a sandwiched laun/Styrofoam/laun assembly, but not sure. I think that because when I drilled a hole in it for a screw, the drill popped through after only about an eight of an inch. Meaning the screw is into the Styrofoam. I need to run a cable above the ceiling and below the roof and want to make sure there is a "void" in which the cable can be ran. Since the roof will hold my full weight with little sign of deflection, there must be some kind of truss arrangement supporting the roof panel allowing for a ceiling panel to be attached to the bottom of the truss. Is this correct? BruceRe: Solar Design Review / HelpThanks all for the responses. One response indicated I should up the wire size to the batter to maybe 4AWG. What kind of wire should I use? A lightweight battery jumper cable? Or Tray Cable wire? As far as the fuse from the charge controller to the batteries, I will up the fuse size to 50 although the charge controller only puts out 30A I believe. Remember the charge controller is receiving 24V and regulating out 12V to the batteries so in that scenario the manufacturers literature says max 540W PV's. All this is so confusing. I don't want to start a fire. Summers here are bright and hot. Even if the PV's are mounted flat, I'm concerned that in the mid summer sun, I will see high amps coming to the charge controller even though the PV's are only rated 8.35Amps open circuit. Thanks again for your comments. BruceSolar Design Review / HelpHi all! I'm putting together a solar charging design for my older Class A RV. I've upgraded my 2 12V Marine Deep Cycle batteries to 4 Lifeline 6V Golf Cart AGM Batteries. Got them all wired up with 2/0 SGX cable. Made custom length battery cables, crimped and soldered w/copper tinned lugs. Just got my new Blue Sky 3024iL MPPT Controller. Moved the battery bank from under the chassis in a metal battery box to under the kitchen bunk seat inside the RV. Figured no venting required as the new batteries are AGM. There is room to put the charge controller in with the batteries. Yesterday I got 2 Renogy Monocrystaline PV's 250W @ 24V. Intend on wiring them in parallel to make the 500W total. Comes with 10AWG whips that I'll cut to length to get into a homemade PVC rooftop combiner box. It'll be 8AWG cable down to the charge controller. Bought a e2 fuse holder w/30Amp AGU fuse to go in the positive leg to the charge controller. Thought I'd use 6AWG on the output side of the charge controller through another e2 fuse holder with 25Amp AGU fuse to the input side of the battery bank. The ouput side of the battery bank (2/0 cable) out through the floor of the RV down into the old battery can to a e2 150Amp fuse and onto positive and negative isolation posts where I'll connect to the existing 1/0 SGX cable that runs about 15' to the power center. That's basically it for now, but before I connect everything up, I'd like some assurances that wire gauge selection and fuse sizing is appropriate. Also, on the net I've been reading about proper safety deration of 1.56% and 1.23% of current before and after the charge controller is correct. If that's the case the Voc from the PV's doubled (because they're in parallel) plus the safety factor may put me over the max 30amp input to the charge controller. Not sure I did that right. PV Specs Vmp=31.64V Imp=7.90A Voc=37.78V Isc=8.35A Charge Controller 40A@12V 30A@24V So I'm 24V from PV's to Charge Controller and 12V to batteries. Did I do this right? Thanks for your comments in advance. I know that Trojan and Lifeline are very good batteries and will last a long time if cared for. I was just trying to find an AGM in 6V that was a little more affordable than the Trojans and Lifelines. I'm wanting to move my house battery bank out of the stock metal can designed for the batteries due to size and the only location I have is under on the the bench seats of the kitchen table which is in the living space. If I use any flooded cell battery I have to figure out how to vent them. I can really only go down under the coach which suggest a powered vent. Really didn't want to do that. So, trying to figure how I might be able to afford AGM's. They don't require a vent. I was really looking to find if any of you have used or heard of this VMAS Charge Tank batteries and if they are any good. They say the plates are made to mil spec. I suppose that good but really don't know. Thanks for your help. bking49
