But I am not sure if this is something they do all of the time.Carolina Country Campground Salisbury NCI noticed Carolina Country Campground in Salisbury NC is under new ownership. Has anyone stayed here or driven through recently? We've stayed at Dan Nicholas, but are looking for something with a pool for summer in that area.Re: New Campground Near Charlotte, NC???I drive by it all the time. Have not been in it, but it appears they built a new bath house and office. But the sites and residents have not changed. Still mostly local contractors and no amenities that I can see. KOA in Fort Mill, Carowinds or Andrew Jackson State Park are better options if you need to be near Pineville/CharlotteRe: Campgrounds in Charleston S.C.I would stay at Mt Pleasant KOA before returning to Oak Plantation. More for my son to do and the sites are larger. However Oak Plantation is nice if you need to be on that side of Charleston. I'll be at James Island County Park that weekend. We booked our sites last year. Good luck. That is the week they start the Holiday Festival of Lights.Re: Asheville campgroundsThe breakfast at the pavilion is good. All you can eat pancakes or French toast!Re: Flaming Arrow Campground, Cherokee ,N.C.Glad to hear they were friendly. Upon check in we were bombarded with the do's and don'ts to the point that it made us uncomfortable. Nice park, but we would not go back.Re: Toe River CG or Campfire Lodgings? From what I hear about Campfire Lodgings it is more adult oriented. We like Toe River. The area that you can play in the river is calm and shallow. We have rented tubes and my 5 year old at the time tubed down with me. I just brought a life jacket for him.Re: Best campgrounds in NC mountainsI hate putting it out there, but Toe River is one of our favorite mountain campgrounds. Sites are level and easy to get into. You can play in the river or in the big field. They have a pool and lots of kids to play with. You are not far from the blue ridge parkway, Spruce Pine and Mt Mitchell. I'll choose this over Boone KOA and Mama Gerties. Mama Gerties is pretty, set on a side of a hill so not good for biking and hiking. We finally got to Stone Mountain and really enjoyed it. We will definitely go back next summer. Lots to do in the park. But the temps are still not "mountain cool" enough for me. We enjoyed playing in the river at widows creek falls.Re: Long term near Charlotte NCI think the CG on 160 is long gone. Been here for about 14 years and have not seen or heard of it.Re: charlotte nc and carowindsWE camped there may years ago and drove through since it has re-opened. For the cost it is not really a $50+ night campground. But if you are going to Carowinds you can't beat the location. If you take the shuttle you won't have to pay to park, so factor that into your decision. The amusement park itself has a section for smaller kids. There are boats, cars, mini roller coaster, swings, 2 different types of airplanes, train and carousel. In the waterpark, there are two splash areas as well as a pool designated for the little ones. 0' entry up to 3 feet with waterfalls and bubblers. I would take my son when he was 18 months and there was plenty to keep us entertained.
