Scouting for possible chucker and huns and just getting outRe: Slideouts @ WalMart ReduxI stayed at a park on the outskirts of Whitehorse and it was very nice. As for million $ class A in wallmart. They are mostly very cheap. I do not like the rubber dust that gets tracked in when parking lot camping. Soldatna AK has 1100 city boondock spots. The Ralleys lot that has even a dump station gets so many campers that customers can hardly find a parking spot to shop.Elko NV, Wild horse resevoir areaI want to go to the Elko NV area and take my quad to explore the area. Any suggestions ???Re: Smaller fifth wheels no longer made??If you want quality, look at Artic Fox Built to last but not light. Will need a 3/4 ton to towRe: Gel coat care larry barnhart wrote: this is what I do for a nice look, poli glow. chevman How is the poli-glo holding up. Propaganda? LOL. People need to calm down. You'd think they were curing cancer with how fired up they get about a product that they aren't even using. Swivel Wheel has been around for a long time. Lots of units sold. No reports of failure or jail time for the offending owners. RELAX everyone. If it's not for you, don't use it. If it works, then do. But really, this site is full of stroke victims waiting for it to happen with the high blood pressure you all get over other people's setups. The longer I'm on this site, the more I realize that people here have morphed from trying to help other RVers into taking great pleasure in shooting down other's setups. From the weight police to the swivel police to every other thing you all condemn as dangerous and illegal. Really. It's getting old. X-4 Took it out this weekend. 140 miles. used infared heat gun. Small tire and bearing were same temp as trailer tires. Saw several CHP units. Did not get pulled over. Enough said! You win for this post. SPOT ON!!!! Perfect explanation. I've gotten to where I don't post on here much due to more attacks that help So true! Re: Furnace help needed! How cold is it where you are? How long did it run for you?Re: another pic of swivelI took the drawings, weight calcs and lengths to my local Highway Patrol headquarters. The head officer there gave it his blessing. When it was finished and all axxles weighed, I returned to the same CHP office with the rig and again got their OK. It is an attachment to the trailer! Any of you see the Tag axles that lower and take weight off the load on 10 wheel dump trucks and transit mixers. This application is exactly the same thing. An extra axle that is permanently attached and bears part of the load.Re: another pic of swivelThe speed rating is 60 mph. It is 8 inch rim. Connected with a standard receiver welded to the 8 inch channel frame on both sides. In each receiver goes a 2x2x1/4 inch adapter formed into a 90 degree, 12 inch on each leg. The platform has 1/4x3in ears welded to the frame. All hinge and connectors are 9/16 grade 8 cat bolts with self locking nuts. I constructed the swivel wheel mounting parts so they could be moved for an aft, before final welding, with the quad loaded, to find the proper center of gravity I wanted. That is 500# on tire 125# 0n the rear of the trailer. The swivel is done by an identical hub as the wheel hub mounted to a 1/2 inch plate that welds to the frame. Wheel spring is accomplished by a torsion assy like some newer trailer axles. Actually in reverse the platform tilts to the rear some because the center of the tire is swung around and very near to the platform pivot points But still backs nicely. In rough terrain, I would unload before backing very much.Re: another pic of swivel oldbeek wrote: 500# 0n the tire (rated 1000#) 125# on rear of trailer. It is an attachment of the trailer, not an additional trailer. Same drivers license. Still under the gvw of the trailer and gcw for the truck.
