Just want to make sure not to get a clog.Re: Macerator QuestionI know I'm really late getting in on this post so I don't really expect an answer. I found this by searching info on macerators. I have one that came with my '14 Bounder and detest it. As mentioned previously, it is noisy and the neighbors all know what you're doing. After a particularly disastrous trip lately, the last straw was when the macerator decided to die a horrible, groaning death. The unit is in the shop for a myriad of things and one thing they are going to check on is if I can use it without the macerator. It has two toilets so I thought it may be necessary because of that. Any thoughts and opinions? It WOULD have been a deal breaker for me, i.e. I wouldn't have bought the unit if I'd known it was on there. Lesson I learned: if possible, camp a night in it first before finalizing everything.Re: New Gas Chassis ChoicesGosh, what's wrong with the Ford? My V-10 drives my 37ft with ease and is the second one I've owned. Never once had a problem with cranking, even after I forgot to turn off the batteries when I left for a week or so.Re: propane fridge on when travelingHave it on when traveling. Used to turn it off when refueling and just realized on the last trip, I forgot. Doh! Oh, well, we and our neighboring refuelers are still here. Has anyone seen on the net any Youtube, etc. where there was a fire?Re: Love Hate relationshipTalk to someone that owns a second home for seasonal use about maintenance costs. Add up your house maintenance expenses, then add double the maintenance costs of a second car. Owning a motorhome is like owning a second home and large second car/truck combined, without the yard maintenance and property taxes. The reason I preferred a MH is that if your neighbors are a PITA, you can move the same day.Re: Blue Ridge Parkway and US 21 North CarolinaYou didn't ask about the Parkway, but with all the rain we've had there is a major crack right down the middle yellow line and they have a couple of miles closed off. Just Google it before you go.Re: Newer Ford V10 Gas MileageWith a new 35' gasser, we tried to measure for the first time over the 4th for a 850 mile trip. Tow a Jeep. We never let it go lower than a half tank so it makes it hard to gauge, but the best we could calculate was about 8.5. As I've posted before, I pulled a two horse trailer with a F150 and was lucky to get 8, so I have no complaints at all. I'm glad I didn't buy a diesel because we in TN and NC get some mountains but not enough to justify a DP. And, this morning, a DP passed me big time towing a car/dolly while I was driving to work in my car on I-26, and I just wondered how much he/she was burning up being in such a hurry!Re: woman travelling aloneIf I read the OP correctly, after the son came to the door with the shotgun the encounter was over. No shots needed to be fired. Having said that, my husband and I do not travel with a gun, although it wouldn't be a bad idea. One time we stopped at a rest area and were checking the connection of our toad when a guy came over and was giving us a wild story about one of the truck drivers (he pointed to)quitting his job right then and was giving away the company cash. If we would go over the guy would give us $100. Of course, we declined, but this was in the middle of the day in a rest area where it would have been very difficult to have done anything bad and not be seen. So we never did figure out what it was about.Re: MH wreck on I95 yesterdayIronic you should post this as I was just thinking yesterday how rare it is to see an accident involving a MH. We can only hope anyone involved is okay.Re: Side window sun visor. This has been a question I had, too. Now, I use a baseball cap pulled in all kinds of directions to block it, but it sounds like the idea of the children's sun visor might be a good thing to try. I can't close my side curtains and see the mirrors.
