All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Emergency Travel - Texas to South Georgia?manley, yesterday when I was canceling our end of April trip to Gulf State Park in AL, all state parks in AL and GA were open and gave no indication of closing. Gulf State Park was refunding all deposits which they don't normally do, so you may be able to easily find campsites in both states parks. Hope this helps and be especially safe during this time of stress. KenRe: Loud vibrating furnanceYou may have had a mouse build a nest in one of the squirrel cage blower wheels. If it didn't cover the complete surface of the wheel, the fan could still be partially working. If it's a Suburban, you have to remove it and take apart to get to the blowers. If you find nest materials in the blower which circulates the air through the trailer, you may have a mouse problem. Hope this helps a bit and good luck. KenRe: Electric cooler off of 12 voltsLarry, since your are permanently plugged in to 120V, your converter should supply plenty of 12V to keep it running. If it is the 40qt., the web site says it draws 5 Amps. Even the smallest converter should handle that easily. The only thing I would caution about would be if you have a WFCO converter, get a DC volt meter, permanently mount it somewhere easy to see, and wire it to the output of the converter. It should read somewhere around 13.2 - 13.6 volts all the time. If it doesn't, start checking things because the converter may have failed and your battery will discharge fairly quickly. Hope this helps. KenRe: Renogy 12V 100W Panel on Sale - 87.00Just clicked on the link (9:03 AM EDT 7/21/19) and it's now up to $120.88. Amazon is up to their usual tricks! If you scroll down to where they list other panels, there is a 100W Poly panel listed and it is a little less than $105 and a bit more square (shorter and wider) than the mono panel. I think it also has a bit more Isc too. A little over a dollar a watt but still a pretty good deal. Like MEX, that is tempting! KenRe: New House Batteries Now No DC PowerThere is one thing that no one has mentioned. The colored plastic sleeves on crimp terminals indicates the size wire they are to be used with, and has nothing to do with polarity. Small red is 18 - 22 ga., blue is 14 - 16 ga., yellow is 12 - 10 ga., and large red is 8 ga. (may also be for 6 ga. - not sure on that). If you don't know this, the red ones can be very confusing, Good job on troubleshooting and I'm glad you didn't let out the magic smoke. KenRe: Do AGM's charge quicker?Ed, thanks for the link to the article. I think this is the most comprehensive and through test I have seen on charging AGM batteries. Lots of good info. Thanks again. KenRe: Portable, battery powered fanI know this is a somewhat old thread but since there seems to be a bit of contention about the O2cool fans, I thought I would post actual measured test results on one of my fans. Using a bench power supply set to 13.6 volts (changing the output requires taking the supply apart so it stays at 13.6), I measured 610 mA on high and 450 mA on low. At 12.6 volts these current draws would be lower since the fan uses a permanent magnet DC motor. The coaxial power connector on the side of the fan takes a 5mm O.D x 2.1mm I.D. plug if you want to make your own cable to plug into your RV. Hope this helps some folks who would like to use an O2cool. BTW, these results are for the 10" fan. KenRe: Battery ProtectionHi Paul. Here are a couple of pictures showing the hanging battery compartment Winnie put in the Fuse. The light tan object on the right side of the pics is the end of the propane tank. It doesn't show up real well but behind the batteries is the exhaust pipe and the drive shaft. And yes, the batteries are exposed. Sorry the second one is a bit overexposed but hopefully you can see enough detail. As you can see, checking the electrolyte level is almost impossible. Adding water and using a hydrometer requires removing the batteries. Mex's idea of recombinant caps might be a good one. Also, if you could find a central watering system for the number of cells you will have, that might work. For me these tinker-toy group 24 (not so) "Deep Cycle" batteries will probably be replaced with 2 AGM GC-2s when I kill them. Good luck. KenRe: Battery ProtectionSure Paul I'll be happy to. Let me charge the camera battery. The DSLR will take much better pictures than a phone. KenRe: Atwood water heater won't lightThanks for the info, Doug. Even though the Fuse is more than a year old, it was never sold until we bought it in early September. It's my understanding all the warranty start the first time the RV is sold to a retail customer. Is that correct? I suspect this unit was on part of the show circuit and it looks like the water heater has never been used on LP. Guess I'll just run it on LP and see if it breaks :) Thanks again.
