Funny but I had stopped checking the Forum until I started getting notifications that this post was still active. Now I am lurking again! The fact is, I haven't found anything to really replace it. I am very happy with a group of ladies who RV in my area but for technical advice, this is still my "go to" Forum.Best system for flat towing a Jeep Wrangler SportFor the past two year we have towed a KIA Soul on a dolly behind our Sprinter based Class C-. We have both had orthopedic surgeries this year and decided that flat towing is best for us. I bought a 2-door Jeep Wrangler Sport today and now we need to fit it out for towing. I would like advice about the easiest system available. lizzieBest system for flat towing a Jeep Wrangler SportThis topic has been moved to another forum. The helpers are still out there but, like me, don't chime in as much. Trekker is right, I am a different poster than I was 10 years ago. I think that I will continue to "check in" for time to time to see if I can learn anything new or help someone else. Camp On!A Stroll down Memory Lane: 10+ years on this ForumSince 2008 a vital part of my day has been a quick check to see what's happening on this Forum. Over the past year I have found myself not checking in so often and during the past month; hardly at all. So I went back and reviewed 10 years of Private Messages, seeing names and recalling places and events that I had forgotten. I have made some great friends, gotten a world of information, and my life has been enhanced but things have changed and I think it may be time to wander on. The warmth and helpfulness and delight in sharing the wonderful world of camping/RV-ing doesn't seem to be here anymore.Or maybe it's just me? There is a lot of competition on social media also. Other sites have easier formats and I can actually post photos. Good Luck and happy traveling to everyone. lizzieRe: Southern New Mexico and Big BendOur summer plans have also changed because of surgery scheduled for mid-June. I am hoping we can get on the road by September. I want to follow this thread because these sound like great suggestions for us. lizzieRe: Florida gulf coast CampgroundsTravel just a few miles inland from TopSail to Blackwater River State Park or to one of the campgrounds in the Blackwater State Forest. Not on the beach, but on a beautiful river with miles of white sandbars. Near Carrabelle you can visit Ochlockonee River State Park, camp beside the river and walk along the shore. This area is called The Forgotten Coast. Give it a Google. lizzieRe: Extra Tires to the Yukon?Good advice from all of the above. We towed a TT to Yukon-Alaska twice, traveled the Dempster, out to McCarthy & etc. We carried extra spares for the truck and the TT. We did not need them for ourselves (loaned one to another motorist), but it was so worth it to us to have them. lizzieRe: Lake camping in FloridaAlligators love lakes; gentle banks for easy access, nice weeds & brush around the edges, lots of water fowl. They also love holding ponds, swimming pools, ditches, any place with water. Best way to avoid them is to stay out of Florida and most of the deep south. That said, there are lots of campgrounds on lakes. Check out the Blackwater State Forest (near Milton, FL). lizzieRe: Let's talk about NEXT wintah! We winter in the FL Panhandle, but are natives of the area so may be biased. For many years the alternatives to the public campgrounds (lots of state parks and state forest, and national forests) was the famous Ho Hum RV Park at Carrabelle. In the last year three spacious and beautiful (from the highway) parks have opened and seem to be popular. They are located on US 98 between Apalachicola and Carrabelle on the coast. Believe it or not this area has similarities to Maine. Until recently most of the property along this coast was owed by major pulp wood companies, a sharp deterrent to development. It is now mostly owned by the state and federal government, still holding off development. Try it. You may like it. lizzie
